Xbox 360 version of Ghostbusters not region locked photo

Ghostbusters fans and Xbox 360 owners across Europe were more than a bit peeved when they first learned that Sony had locked down Terminal Reality's game for a timed PlayStation 3 release in that region. Destructoid is based in the United States, but we understand your pain... and we're very sorry.

But today we have some good news for you. Destructoid has confirmed with Atari that the North American version of Ghostbusters for the Xbox 360, set to hit stores on June 16, will not be region locked. Yes, that's right -- if you're jonesing for some ghost wrangling, you'll be able to pop the disc into your PAL console and start busting. Because as we all know, busting makes you feel good.

While the game isn't officially available until next week, we're already hearing reports of readers picking up copies of both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions at their local retailers.

There are plenty of places online that you can import the game; share your import suggestions and experiences in the comments.

That's why I love psn, I have a UK, Chinese, Japanese, and NA psn account. Works well for demos and vids, but you still have to have region specific funds to buy. Anyone buying foreign psn points cards in the US?

I've got a PS3, but I'm tempted to import this on 360 anyway just to piss off Sony.

Fantastic news. I wonder what the execs at SCEE must be thinking... 'Curses! Foiled again!'

@ the people complaining against me...

well the PS3-version that i can buy in the eu IS REGIONLOCKED so I've had to cancel my preorder for that, since it turned into a no-buy for me... This article was the first time i found out about it being regionlocked...

so I'll be getting the US 360 version even though I don't generally buy multiplatform games for my 360 anymore...

PS3 games are never region-locked. That's one of the big features that made the PS3 exciting: no restrictions on game regions. There is nothing in this article that talks about the PS3 version being locked, and even if it was, it's the version that's coming out first in Europe. You seem to be confused about how the release will be happening.
