The Xbox 360 launched in North America on November 22, 2005. That makes today its birthday. Its fifth birthday, in fact. Just like this article's headline says! That's science for you.
The 360 may have gone off a bit thanks to this Kinect nonsense, but it's been a pretty good system for the past five years. Except for all the red-ringing and random Xbox Live banning and Too Human. Seriously though, I like my Xbox 360. It's a fun thing for playing videogames on sometimes.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been any talk of its successor. The OG Xbox only lasted about 4 years before Microsoft stopped supporting it. Amazing how things have changed in one generation.
Hopefully they learn from their mistakes this generation and build a system that doesn't red ring. Also, does anyone at this point have a launch 360 that works?
Seriously? How can you be happy with your console if you have to unplug it and plug it back in to make it work? Article related I'm very happy with my 4gb slim with kinect. Even if it still sounds like a rocket ship:)

Still, I may get to have some fun with it for a year or so before it dies. At least I'll be able to play with my povvo friends who couldn't afford a PS3.

I am kinda struggling to remember which games i wanted to play on it, there was L4D2 - but I'll probably get that on my new PC, there was Dead Rising, but I played the Sequel on my PS3 so i'm good, there was Mass Effect 2, but that's coming to PS3 aswell.
I'm sure there were other Xbox exclusives i was jaelous of.... Maybe give Fable 3 a go? Dunno.
To be honest, I'll probably just get Black Ops for it as i have a bunch of casual ass buddies who play CoD and pretty much just CoD on XBL.

as a ps3 and recently gaming laptop owner I am thankful for the awesomeness that the 360 brought to the table. without the 360 I don't think sony would have done half of what it did to make the ps3 what it is

Seems silly and frivolous, but I'm gonna keep the Xbox and actually pay for LIVE (Although i think i get a year free with the prize) just so i can play with my buddies who aren't lucky enough to have a PS3.

If nothing else, there's Super Meat Boy. A lot of good fun to be had, there. Here's a list of recommendations:
-Alan Wake
-Beautiful Katamari
-Fable 2 & 3
-Gears of War and Halo, if you like shooters
-The Ubisoft Naruto games are pretty good, and a different take than the Storm series
-Mass Effect (you may as well play the first)
Offhand, that's what comes to mind. It's also worth taking a look at Xbox Live Arcade and Xbox Indie Games for some cheap fun. Limbo isn't the same on Little Big Planet, and a couple Indie games (Aphelion, Breath of Death VII, to name two) are worth the time and money.

But it is probably for the best...I had xbox live pretty much just to rent movies...so I was paying a monthly fee for the ability to pay more money to rent movies and access netflix from the console.
Maybe MS did me a favor by not fixing the console. I'm betting they lost out in the end.

I wouldn't say it has poor software, but I really don't get all this exclusivity bullshit that just causes me to have to buy some of my games in another place. I wish fighters and shmups had PC releases as well. As someone who only uses the d-pad anyways, I don't feel these types of games really play better on consoles. :/

Trollbaiting apart, XBox 360 has been my only "next-gen" console for a few years and never died on me. It has brought me good retail games and great downloadable titles. Now, I have a PS3 and Wii but I still play and buy games for XBox 360 a lot more than on my other consoles. But I guess I am a bit biased as it's my first one :)

seriously though, i have a 360 and a ps3, love them both, play them both all the time. PS3 for my RPG's and stuff and my 360 for shooters and arcade games. They both are awesome. The only reason fanboys exist (especially the likes of Sonylchiban) are because they trollin. Sure, @Sexual Chocolate says some dumb, uneducated things about his favorite bashing instrument, but he rarely delves into trolling (anymore)
