Xbox 360 outsells PS3 by nearly 3:1 in Japan last week

Xbox 360 outsells PS3 by nearly 3:1 in Japan last week photo
     japan

According to Media Create sales data as chronicled at NeoGAF, the unthinkable has occurred. For a period of seven days, the Xbox 360 sold approximately three times faster than the PS3. Does this prove that the PS3 is in fact just too big for the Japanese to ever truly love? Or could that new JRPG just released in Japan last week have something to do with it?

Either way, Microsoft of Japan take note: Have whatever happened last week repeat itself for the next 156 weeks, and you may just have a chance at getting the silver in this generation's console Olympics (at least in Japan).

Full numbers after the jump.

Man, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4?

It's gonna be hard to remain loyal to PS3 in Japan

Oh my God.

Did they finally realize Lost Odyssey was on the 360 and never coming to the PS3? Or was it really the generic shitfest Tales of Vespialonianoko No Tetsu?

Hopefully this will persuade more japan developers to make more 360 games, the 360 has too many generic American shooters right now :/

Wow, 25,000 360s is REALLY impressive for Japan. The Tales series is great though, so I ain't mad at them. I wonder what the total sales in Japan are now. I know Wii and PS3 are still destroying it, but every major RPG has shifted tens of thousands of 360s, not to mention games like IdolMaster.

All Microsoft needs to do now is release a JRPG every single week.

I was quite impressed with Tales of Symphonia, and if the trend of great gameplay was kept up to Tales of Vesperia I can see why the 360 would sell like hot cakes there.
