As soon as the PlayStation 3 gets itself a big exclusive title, it only seems a matter of time before there is talk of an Xbox 360 version. Final Fantasy XIII had it, Metal Gear Solid 4 continues to deal with it, and now even LittleBigPlanet has been discussed for the 360 by Media Molecule's Alex Evans.
As reported by Eurogamer, the studio boss suggested that LBP could be done on the 360, but not in its current form:
The 360 is an incredibly capable machine, and you could make a user-generated content game on it, no question - just as you could make one on the PS2 or the Mega Drive, or any platform. But because we picked our platform, you go and you use every available bit of space, every little processor cycle.
The design decisions on the PS3 are huge, and I'm sure you realize that having a hard drive on every unit makes a difference. That's another thing - if we didn't have a hard drive on every unit, we'd have to scale back the ambition of what you could save and do.
So yes, you could make this game on the 360, but it'd be a different game.
So there you go. If Sackboy were to ever appear on the Xbox 360, it would be under a most different guise. Apparently the 360 just isn't ambitious enough for LittleBigPlanet. Blu-ray is also a deal-breaker, with Evans claiming that LBP takes up around 40 GB of disc space, mainly thanks to the tutorial content.
Seems like Sony has nothing to fear from Microsoft with LittleBigPlanet.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, 40 gbs damn, with most of it because of tutorials? insane.
Hopefully that is not the install size...
So looking forwards to this game but yeah, worried about how many "cock" levels there are going to be. Bonus points to the first dtoider that makes a dtoid level? Oh... idea for a contest me thinks?
yes, because its all about console wars, right???
On might want to wonder if that's 40GB because they're disregarding any innovative compression practices. Neo Geo games took up alot of space too . . .
but you know, whatever. They're basically sayin they'd have to port it to 360 and make any number of compromises to do so. Captain Obvious has a posse.
In other news, the Microsoft-produced Gears of War 2 is only possible on the Microsoft-produced Xbox 360.
*the bitterly jealous crybaby screams*
Then again PS3 can't do Online, because most there users are 13 year old kids who own 1mb internet connections. Therefore could barely host a game of Yahoo! Pool.
@ElfShotTheFood - ...... *facepalm*
1080p h.264 AVC (or MPEG-2 would be even more) takes up a lot of GB. probably has like 2-4 hours of vid.
