Xbox 360 in a 'fantastic place' with '360 degrees of entertainment' photo

A lot of Xbox 360 chicanery hitting the Blogocube this morning, mostly thanks to the NXE fallout. Here's a story that's not about the NXE, but it is doubtless a line you've heard before -- Microsoft says the Xbox 360 is doing well against the PlayStation 3.

The September price cut and big marketing push in Q4 has seen the 360 sell over seven million units across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Two million sales have been had since June, when The 'Soft announced its five million mark.

"We're in a position now where we've sold over seven million consoles in EMEA, which puts us in a fantastic place versus PlayStation 3," claims MS' David Gosen. "It's the combination of elements that put us in a fantastically strong position. We have 360 degrees of entertainment. At the moment, momentum is fantastic, we've got real traction in all European markets."

360 degrees of entertainment. That's a nice line.

It'll be interesting to see how well things stack up for the 360 and PS3 this holiday season. Microsoft is clearly hoping to expand its install base with the "casual" market, while the PS3 seems to be sticking to its guns in terms of marketing and potential audience. No prizes for guessing how things will go for Nintendo.

NXE startup screen was terrible, wow it did remind me of an old PS3 ad. The Avatar creation was definitely very gay.

Netflix HD streaming though???

A-WOW!!!!! Eraserhead in HD?? Holy crap! Flawlessly executed. Kudos to MS and Netflix!!

Did people focus this much on who was going to "win" 2nd place in the console race when it was between the Gamecube and the Xbox?

Wow, I never realised how limitted my PS3 experience was...

I can't help but feel a little cramped with only 3 degrees of entertainment.

*sigh*
