Xbox 360 gets two exclusive downloadable chapters for Tomb Raider: Underworld photo
     Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider: Underworld is coming to just about every current gaming platform in the middle of next month, but only on the Xbox 360 can you download and play two new exclusive chapters.

Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes and Tomb Raider: Underworld – Lara's Shadow are both single-player downloadable chapters that extend upon Underworld's story. Between the two, new environments, enemies, and even another playable character will be unlocked in the six hours of new gameplay they provide.

The first release, Beneath the Ashes, will be available by Christmas on Xbox Live. Lara's Shadow will follow in early 2009.

Tomb Raider fans may want to think twice about buying the PS3 version, as they'll miss out on these exclusive episodes.

Speaking of Tomb Raider: Underworld, a demo will be available on Xbox Live later this month.

Does Microsoft just buy out every publisher? This is getting insane. It seems every game that comes out has some exclusive deal on the 360. If these publishers are going to release their games on every platform they damn well better be the same exact experience on every system. I don't want to have to buy multiple consoles to play extra stuff in my games.

In before bitching about these expansions not coming in the retail version of the game.

I'll be playing this on PC, so this means nothing to me.

@Corak: I don't think there's many people who complain about full-fledged expansions or standalone storylines not being on the disc. It's kinda just a little different from an armour set or something equally insubstantial being released almost at the same time as the game.

As for the game, I was probably getting this on 360 anyway, though I actually played through the previous two on my PC (with a controller) so I may be swayed - the PC versions were pretty damn good in my opinion.

I dont mind the DLC, but did they have to get an exclusive demo? a DEMO!? Dickish move tbh, but hey.

What the fuck, Edios?! Six hours of gameplay? This whole MS exclusive DLC thing is really starting to get annoying.

So the version I can play with my controller of choice is now the "bad" version? Thanks, Eidos, you've neatly convinced me that I won't really be pleased with either version.

@ Trev: No, I think you misunderstand the article, the 360 version is the one with the DLC :)

@ Trev - heheh, I still just can't believe people prefer the dualshock over the 360 pad. I was just messing around, we each like what we like

Screw it. Even though I only have a PS3, I'm not gonna buy this, just to let them know that not every PS3 gamer will settle for sloppy seconds.

Does Microsoft think this is going to make those of us with PS3s buy 360s? 6 hours of content isn't going to win the console war. This just makes me hate Microsoft even moar honestly.

I had a 360 and I sold it 'cause it was loud and I feared for it's life. I shouldn't have to fear for my consoles life when I turn it on~

I loved legends on the 360, I hardly beat games and I was actually going back for the time trials. Can't wait for this and more power to the 360!

@Relm143: I think this is as much about encouraging 360-only folk to keep it that way. I've been tempted to buy a PS3 on numerous occasions but never have. With the vast majority of games being multiplatform these days and being as good as, if not more fully featured on 360, I really can't justify spending such a significant amount of money on a console for games I can count on one hand.

Also, I've got an old ass noisy box that's working fine, don't know what you people do to yours. Maybe try switching it off once in a while? I've noticed a few people tend to leave the thing on for hours when they aren't even using it. Consoles aren't built to be left on 24/7.

"Consoles aren't built to be left on 24/7."

I don't know man, I have firends that leave their PS3's on nonstop, usually folding when they are not on them and they never had any problems with it.

And this game has gone from a "probable purchase" to a "rental." Eidos is obviously cutting content out of the final game since the DLC is set to drop one month after the retail release, and they want me to pay full price for a stripped game? Fuck Eidos.

ALSO @ COMMENTS;

Jesus everyone stop having a 360/PS3 paddy :/ It's fucking tomb raider, the greatest game of all time, releasing next month! YOU NEED TO STOP BICKERING AND JUST PURCHASE THE GAME! llolololoolo

For those missing out on the demo, I'll record me playing it :D

For those missing out on the DLC, I'll record me playing it :D

For those of you whose yes will be traumatised with the sight of me wetting my self at a Tomb Raider Demo/DLC, don't worry there is a cream to fix everything :D
*no.. not that type of cream*

Any of you have sat back to think that MAYBE the extra content they are doing via DLC is from CUTS the game had to make? OR perhaps stuff they are CURRENTLY WORKING ON that could be added in time for holiday season.

Personally I think it's an awesome idea. I'll probably be getting this on PS3 and Xbox anyway (I wanna see the differences) - so chill.

ALSO LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL DLC YEAH!!111oneoneoen

Well, it's decided which console I'm getting this for then.

I'm kinda glad it's all coming through XBL. Everything on PSN takes twice as long as it does on XBL.
