Xbox 360 Game of the Year Bundle announced, rumors confirmed photo

Looks like the rumors were true. This morning, Major Nelson announced the Xbox 360 Game of the Year Bundle. It’s a smorgasbord of awesome -- especially if your console has E74’ed recently -- that consists of an Xbox 360 Elite, a copy of Bungie’s Halo 3 and Lionhead Studios’ Fable II for the sweet, sweet price of $399.

If you’re thinking that’s expensive, you’re completely right. But it’s not as expensive as buying those two games and an Elite at the same time. In fact, it’s the same price as any normal Elite unit. Groovy, man.

The bundle will be available in May, so keep your head on a swivel for the deal. Unfortunately, I already took the new Xbox 360 plunge earlier this year and I’m not ready to shed more dough. Are any of you thinking about cashing in on this bundle?

Oh Shit, I might jump on this later this year.

Fuck, I'm ready to "Go Big".

They could have included better games oh well.

Meh. Not the greatest idea considering how many people already own/have played those games. Even then, compared to what's out right now, not all that great of games in general. I haven't even finished Fable 2, let alone touched it since two weeks after it came out.

I think this is a decent bundle. It's perfect for someone who's been on the fence about some titles to pick up if they bought a console.

I dunno about you guys, but every other pack-in bundle they'd made before now has been pretty weak by comparison.

I mean...

Xbox 260 and Sega Superstar Tennis? No thanks.

Is this confirmed to be one of the cooler, quieter models? I grabbed a Pro console in December and the fans are pretty damn loud.

I'm looking to get a 360 soon, but maybe I'll just wait till this bundle comes out. I would get the RE5 bundle, but I already have RE5 for the PS3

I think I would still rather get the RE4 one but if those aren't around anymore by the time I have the money I'll make sure to pick this one up instead.

It's about time MS gives away a game other than UNO with a console purchase.

Not being an owner of a 360 yet, and being that in the past month I've been thinking about finally getting one more and more, this is perfect for me.

Good bundle for those that don't have a 360 yet, at least they packed in good games with it.

I don't remember either of those being very popular picks for GOTY. However, these days anyone whose game averages a 8.5 or above thinks they released the GOTY, so whatevs.

loki d20: That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. this is an Xbox360 bundle, in other words, people who most likely don't HAVE an Xbox360 yet and regardless of your personal opinion, both of those games are critically acclaimed and probably very appealing for people still looking to buy an XBox360.

Fable 2 sucks, how about bundling Gears of War 2 instead? I can always use a Jasper 360.

Seeing as how those are the only 2 games on the 360 that I care to play, I just might have to finally jump on the 360 bandwagon.

@Gameloading: How the heck doesn't it make sense? How many more people do you think are going to pick up a console to play year old games instead of alternate console options and purchase newer games with it? Especially considering the number of each of these have sold, meaning that current owners are less likely to pick up a newer/replacement/extra model that has games they've already played.

This would have worked much better if they had kept it with offering upcoming, new games with the package rather than two year-old games.

I'm a Nintendo guy, so I don't have anything but their systems (save my PS2 that my ex got for me that I only use ofr DVD's and the occasional GTA run) but I might be tempted to pick this bundle up, two pretty noteworthy games that I haven't really gotten the chance to play yet.

yes Loki, because year old games automatically become suck right? and everyone that buys this hardware bundle already played these year old games on their non-existent 360 at home. makes perfect sense.

btw lets tell Nintendo not to bundle Mario Galaxy in with a Wii because that game has been out on shelves forever and everyone that doesnt have a Wii already has played enough of it.

Yeah, this bundle is a great starter pack for sure. But Im not interested in Halo 3 or Fable 2. I want to play gears of war, and if those games where bundled with a 360, that would really get me considering picking up one.

I was looking to get a 2nd Xbox to use on my new HDTV in my room. I may have to spring for this instead of an Arcade (which I was planning on adding my old 20gig HDD to anyway) seeing as I don't own either of these titles. Hmm...

Why can't they just include some kind of voucher or coupon for two free games? They could even have them be a choice of a certain 5 games or something. I mean, there are plenty of people who aren't interested in Halo 3 or Fable 2 for whatever reason. Still, it's hard to complain about free stuff.
