Sure, Pain, Flower, and Fat Princess were published by Sony, so those won't come to XBL in any universe. However, Joe Danger was developed and published by Hello Games and Dust 514 is made by CCP as well as published. Keep in mind my knowledge on of the PSN store is very limited in that I only recently started browsing it. There are probably a lot more games that I can't think of at the moment.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game was released four months earlier on PS3 and PSP in Europe. All the other versions didn't came out over her until November.
considering that only handful of games were ported to ps3 it's kinda stupid cause in the end you're cut off from about 250+ still exclusive 360 and XBLA games(excluding indies) for what? 60-80 PS3/PSN games including Playstation Move titles?
@Joo Campos Costa,
yeah and nobody complained then it's when MS/Nintendo is doing it that everyone have a problem with it. funny considering that during PSX/PS2 era sony paid hundred of millions to 3rd parties for timed(Tomb Raider series) or complete exclusivity(Final Fantasy, GTA) and pulled massive amount of dirty tricks.
ha, you probably haven't seen that because of this policy! i get your point though, and i didn't intend to paint sony or MS as the good or bad guy.
Microsoft, I want to give you money for a game, I really do, but If you won't put the game online I can't give you money. You don't even have to make the game or publish it, all you have to do is let someone upload it to your server and you get money... Why don't you want my money?
I was hoping the new Prince of Peria Sands of Time Trilogy HD remakes would come to XBL. I was holding off on that purchase. Okay, MS. I will give Sony money I had been saving for you.
I don't think that's what the indie pub fund actually is. It's more like spending money to publish indie titles that otherwise might not be made.
Fuck me gently with a chainsaw dude. I swear Microsoft and Nintendo could give you brain cancer and you would still bad mouth Sony. Get over it. If you have a good defense for XBLA, state it, all you're doing is saying it's okay if Xbox rapes me cause my console is better than your console.
PS. My dad would whoop your dads ass.
Shit like this is the reason I don't touch my 360 anymore. It may have some awesome exclusives, but Microsoft are such dicks.
Name some of those "250+" XBLA exclusives, and I'll counter that with all the PS1 classics that can be played on my PSP or PS3.
Each system has it's strengths and weaknesses, and I decided to choose the one that gave me the most retail exclusives (along with having all the big name multiplatform releases), as well as free multiplayer.
All the downloadables I want (Castlevania HD, Limbo, BG&E HD, Bomberman, Hard Corps Uprising) are on both platforms, or coming to both.
Don't get me wrong, the 360 is a good system (if enough reasons pop up, I'll end up getting one), but if I had to choose just one, it'd be the PS3.
You really think Sony doesn't have a hand in this too? They're stepping up their exclusivity game, and I'm sure they wouldn't want MS taking away their downloadable titles.
You really think that if MS wanted to publish Wipeout HD, Sony would let them? How is this any different?
once again sony FUNDED those games - they boasted how they paid for entire Joe Danger development after all.
@mix,
the difference between MS and Sony is that MS usually legally pays for exclusivity or simply offer help in development while Sony in terms of games like Ghostbusters or Lego Pirates of the Caribbean pulled legal strings to either delay release of the game on other platforms(in terms of Ghostbusters when they first sold license to Atari and Terminal Reality and before release of the game gone to court or pulled some legal strings to demand not only publishing rights but delay of other platforms) or completely ban entirely certain games like they did with Lego PotC in few european countries when they used the fact of having rights to publish Pirates of the Caribbean movies as excuse to ban other than PS3/PSP versions of Lego game.
Why just the downloadable titles?
This is not the first time Destructoid has reported incorrectly on this topic, like when you claimed Machinarium was banned (or something) from XBLA.
Scott Pilgrim was on PSN first, but it was published by Ubisoft, so it came to XBLA after.
either way, it IS stupid. I understand PSN/XBLA update schedules, but shit like that? retarded.
Microsoft doesn't give two shits about you, son. They don't even care if you have all the best games. So why should it hurt your feelings so much that the rest of think they're a bunch of fuck faces? Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Sega.... They can all suck a billion cocks for all I care. Just sell me my games and leave me the fuck alone.
i love how sony fanboys take your words out of context and spin them to fit their "argument". facepalm. FYI, i asked for 3rd party PSN exclusive titles that weren't paid/published by sony. and frankly there is none. so all of that bitching how MS is somehow screwing PSN is irrelevant when even 3rd parties don't want to publish their games exclusively on PSN.
to all of those idiots and Jim Sterling bitching about MS here,
you DO understand that they're talking about PUBLISHING those games by MS, right?
name me one company that will help in publishing and promoting the game that got exclusivity deal from competition and was published as superior product on their platform? even sony has similar policy especially with retail release. they admited themself that they won't allow 360/Wii timed exclusive to be released on their console without additional content.
I think you've misunderstood those situations. Sony's demand that games that did not see a simultaneous release should include bonus content were in direct retaliation to Microsoft buying title exclusivity for one year. It was a counter move that made sense, and in no way was worse that the original move.
As for Sony asking for exclusivity for games they help to fund, Microsoft does that as well, and it's an understandable request. I have no problem with that.
THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT MICROSOFT PUBLISHING THOSE GAMES, NOT ALLOWING THEM TO BE PUBLISHED ON XBLA. IF DEVELOPER OF THOSE GAMES WILL FIND PUBLISHER THAT'S NOT MICROSOFT THEY'RE FREE TO PUT IT ON XBLA.
IT'S SONY WHO HAS THE POLICY TO NOT ALLOW ANY 360/WII TIMED EXCLUSIVE TO BE PUBLISHED BY ANY PUBLISHER(SO NOT JUST THEM) WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CONTENT.
how is blocking the release of games on your own platform(that were timed exclusives) without additional content better than legally paying/helping in development(as MS did sending their development team to japan to help Namco develop Vesperia) for timed exclusivity?
We can argue whether or not such a thing is dickish, but let's at least acknowledge the real reasoning behind the decision.
All fanboys should now worship me as the messiah and stfu, if they do not then would they kindly gtfo.
The end.
ITS YOU WHO HAS THE POLICY OF DISREGARDING ANYTHING BAD ABOUT MS OR GOOD ABOUT SONY BECAUSE OF YOUR BLIND RAGE AND IGNORANCE.
Games are games, at the end of the day we're paying someone else to entertain us in our free time, there's better things to get upset about than someone's perception of a news story about such a 1st world issue.
links for what?
Lego PotC were banned by sony in spain and few other countries - basically everywhere where movie distributors owned by sony had publishing rights to PotC movies.
Vesperia stuff was confirmed by Namco CEO(who said in the same interview about MS help in Vesperia development).
it's not that hard to find.
