This hasn't been reviewed yet, has it? So far, I'm impressed. It's like Castlevania + Ninja Gaiden with a dash of Devil May Cry.
Judging from what Jon Carnage experienced when playing the PS3 version on Mash Tactics, it should've been delayed in the first place.

I'm surprised Microsoft is allowing it to be released at all. I thought a game had to come out either first or simultaneously with the PS3 or they wouldn't release it.

Yeah, it's absolute nonsense. The controls are fine, and the game, if anything, is somewhat easy. I mean, it could be hard, but you're given every opportunity to make the game easier and to improve your play. Also, you're given so many bloody combat options that I don't see how people find this difficult. Play the same game with just a whip, awkward jumping, and only 3 lives, and you're -actually- dealing with classic game difficulty.
If anyone wants a classic action platformer, GO BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY

As a sidenote, if I do have a real issue with it, it's that it's short. It wouldn't be as short if it, say, NES gen difficult. But, since it's easier than the reviews indicate, it really doesn't take -that- much time to beat. However, it's a budget PSN/XBLA release to begin with. If you like Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania for the NES (along with some DMC-style battle options), you'll most likely enjoy this.

This game isnt short because the game isnt about 'beating' it. Its about your score and leader board rank. The game is easy to finish and doesnt take that long but finishing the game is like completing the tutorial. This is why the reviews that scored it down for difficulty are lame. I gaurantee the reviewer didnt play the game through more than once. This is a game for people that want to play the stages over and over again and improve there skill till they get a kick ass score. Bloodrayne as a game isnt comparable to castlevania, it comparable to a shmup!
