Console exclusive bonuses seem to be the new way of dealing with multiplatform titles, but this may be the first time that console exclusive boners have come into play. Apparently, if you get the Xbox 360 version of Southpeak's X-Blades, you get a free arse for your troubles.
While both sets of artwork leave little to the imagination, the 360 version of the Japanese box art has main character Ayumi flashing a tad more skin with a thong so tight that a mere sneeze would slice her in three. Quite why PS3 owners have been denied this glorified dental floss on the heroine's shitecrack I do not know, but there you have it.
In other news, I entered a silly Twitter competition and won an X-Blades poster, which was quite cool. What was slightly less cool was that I found, also buried in the package, a selection of high-quality printouts of various X-Blades screenshots. Yes, following their constant barrage of screens and my pleas for help, they decided to start mailing them.
The poster and the ... screens ... are photographed and available for viewing in the gallery. I'm going to go back to looking at drawings of arses.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Kidding!
Anyway, I wish the in-game character looked more like the poster.
Because she doesn't have the head of a 10 year old in the poster.
I think that she might be wearing a little too much armor...
I mean, she's only fighting some magic guys who want to kill her or something, nothing you might want to wear protective garments for...
I'm with SunOfAtom as I think the game would still look sucky if she ran around nude the whole time, though it would be entertaining.
(SunOfAtom : Is it THAT wrong ? *roll eyes*)
i'll still pick this up...once it's not 60. Plus I have Star Ocean, SFIV, and Onechanbara to worry about this month.
Part of the reason why Dtoid has a good relationship with Southpeak is that they don't mind when we shit on something. I'd go for it. I actually don't mind the design, but whatever.
Cool, cause I'd really hate for them to STOP sending you stuff.
But unlike MS Sony knows its consumer base in japan, they prefer "Pantsu" not thongs.
It's not like the cover ain't oversexualized already, so why not go the extra mile! Thats what I kinda miss with games nowadays, the oversexual female protaganist.
X-BLADES, yeah, couldn't come up with a more generic name than that.
Then add the little Japanese text next to it, so it feels even more generic.
Then make the main character an anime-ish girl with flopping hair and stupid naked armor, add that to horrible animation, generic boring combat and METAL MUSIC!
This game is so bland it hurts. It's like watching those American-made-Japanese-style-drawn cartoons they air nowadays.
I've been looking for a generic beat em up to go along with Onechanbara, as for other games: I'll probably play SF4 and FEAR2 before both of those T&A induced games.
I might crack open Xblades first though and see how it is.. who knows, I 'might' be good despite all of this... one can hope...
ha!
360 owners are more likely to buy games with a chick with barely any clothing on it.
But the general attitude of the developers has actually sold me more on this game than the game itself has. It's my experience that any dev studio that has -this- much fun in promoting their games is generally a good company to buy from. I'm seriously considering day-one-ing this now, based almost entirely on that.
Now let's see if they can actually make a good game.
...
actually, that would be fucking rad
