G4's Adam Sessler recently sat down for a chat with Seth Killian of Capcom about Super Street Fighter IV. During their interview, they've given us a look at one of the game's new stages, India.
You can check out the full video after the jump to see for yourself. Not a hell of a lot in the way of new information, really, but it's cool to see the new stage. It looks vibrant and well animated, with elephants doing their elephanty thing in the background like in Dhalsim's old SFII stage. What do you think the next new stage background should be?
I just noticed it, but did any of you catch Dhalsims hot wife Sally in the background, like in Alpha 2? She seems to genuinely pop out more than the rest of the background characters.
I can't wait to beat the shit out of her husband infront of her and see her cry when he loses.
I'm in love with this stage. It's perfect. Almost a shame it has to be in the same game as some of the older ones. Although I'm sure they will pretty them up a bit.
More like this please!
One thing I would like to see is a stage that is kind of like Hugo's in third strike with lots of crap that bounces up when someone gets slammed. I really liked that. It was very specific to his character though...
Maybe they could incorporate that into some existing stages but I don't know how it would look.
@creamsnake
that does happen a bit in a couple stages, specifically on the boat stage when people get slammed or fall, you see some bottles and random stuff bounce. same way on the bridge underpass stage, that little truck and all shit they have on it bounce when some shit happens too.
but yeah, I do hope they add some more nice effects like that.
I would really just like to see every character have character-specific stages.
If they could re-create any stage though, I'd like to see E.Honda's Bath House from Marvel vs Capcom, complete with the destructible wall that lets you fight in the female's bathing area. Maybe throw in a couple of the characters that SHOULD be in this game, like Elena, Karin and Mika, as cameos.
@ The7k
that's possibly the best idea for SSF4 I've ever EVER heard. How the fuck can we go about making that heard? Hey Topher, got Seth Killians E-mail adress? :D
@Everyday_Legend & RAB
I'd say the best way to let them know is to post it on Capcom Unity's message board... although even that isn't the best way to get them to listen. I've been bitching and moaning for a new Darkstalkers and Hasbro vs Capcom (C'mon! Snake Eyes vs Strider Hiryu!) for ages.
For those wanting to know what I'm talking about, here's the bath house after the right side wall gets kicked in, allowing the players to fight in the girls' area. I've always thought that those two girls in the yellow towels on the far left were Sakura Kasugano (the one cheering enthusiastically) and Kei Chitose, Sakura's friend who would often appear in Sakura's intro and win poses in the Alpha series.
True. Perhaps she ended up developing "Super Talents" in the MvC universe.
And hey, on the subject of stages, Ken's stage should be his Birthday party stage from SFA2, which had cameos in the form of Morrigan, Felicia, Captain Commando, Strider, AvP's Kurosawa and who knows how many others.
I was also disappointed by the lack of a Vegas stage for Balrog - could you imagine how awesome that would look?
SF4's backgrounds didn't really do it for me like the in past games. So this makes me excited to see them move away from the volcano type stages and go for something more memorable.
@the7k I always just pick Rufus' stage when I play as Boxer because when I first played the game I was all "Oh hey look, a Balrog stage remake!"
Also, since I'm a Street Fighter 2 fan only(none of those gay anime versions of SF, which is anything after part 2, save for SF4) I wanna see KEN STAGE! That was always hands down, the best stage music ever. Second only to Guile stage, which is basically the Africa stage in SF4.
I know everyone keeps saying this isn't a Final Fight game, but dammit, I want Metro City back. A next-gen remix of the Stage 1 theme with a 3D Mike Haggar choking the fuck out of a bald eagle in the background, man. Tell me that doesn't get you pumped to fight.
And while we're at it, put Cody back in. I can only imagine the shenanigans that could be had if his X-Ism "Final Fight Controls" super combo returned.
@ Rammstein
How ironic - SF2 is the one I like the least. (Well, aside from the original Street Fighter, but anyone who has played that knows why.)
Partially because I found the characters to be one-dimensional at best, down-right stereotypical at worst. It wasn't until the Alpha series that Capcom actually started to develop them.
And partially because the SF2 entries are so played out. Everything from the game speed to the character line-up just makes me think "I'm tired of playing this" after only a few minutes of play, simply because I played that stuff so much in the time of arcades. It's one of the main reasons I hardly played the original Street Fighter IV - it just felt too much like a new entry in Street Fighter 2. Hopefully Seth isn't just BSing when he says the fighting system has been rebuilt.
And hell, I didn't even get to play too much of SF2 in the arcades - after Samurai Showdown 2 hit our town, that's pretty much where everyone migrated to. It had the gameplay depth of Street Fighter mixed with the ever delightful ultra-violence that was the only reason anyone played Mortal Kombat.
@ Doctor Spoon
Cody is rumored to come back, as well as Guy.
Which is honestly a shame where I'm sitting - not that they are coming back, but that they are the only Final Fight characters coming back. Rolento is so much more interesting than the two of them combined.
@the7k
Oh man, it'd be so awesome if they brought back Rolento. The mere prospect of EX-Patriot Circle makes me all tingly.
Although, it might be pretty interesting to see them bring in some Final Fight characters who have never been in a Street Fighter game. Edi. E. or Damnd, maybe. Though with Dee Jay already confirmed, SSFIV's "Jamaican man with huge teeth" quota might just be filled.
May be you can put the Authentic PANIPAT battles backdrop GPS watches . The elephants add authenticity to the Indian culture. Can’t wait to get my hands on SSF – 4. By the way, why so much over sally, is she that hot ? She is just a unreal character notwithstanding.
I took some time out from writing about running watch reviews and cleared out my attic where I found my old SNES which had the very first Street Fighter cartridge with it. Oh the memories came flooding back to me. :)

Also, SSF4 is gonna be JAWSOME
If they bring back Guy, gotta bring Metro City slums @ night back into this bitch. Favorite stage from Alpha 3.

sounds like a plan.

yeah but he hangs out with em. or atleast knows their sisters name
I'd fuckin love it if Capcom had Q hiding in the background in atleast one stage. That'd be rad as fuck.
