WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 demo coming to Live Oct 15 photo

If you're anything like I am, you're a sucker for any game that lets you take on the role of a sweaty dude and touch other sweaty dudes ... wait a minute! That's not like me at all! I do, however, have a soft spot for brawlers of the squared-circle variety, despite the fact that I haven't watched professional wrestling programming in at least seven years (not counting the year I spent in the hospital after I leg dropped my cat through a folding table).

So I'm camping in front of my Xbox 360 until October 15, when THQ is said to be unleashing the demo of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 onto Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo will contain three arenas, a one-on-one mode, and four playable wrestlers: Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, Undertaker, and Randy Orton. It's OK if you don't know who all of those guys are. Neither do I, but I can't wait to have them kick each other in their crotches.

The demo should also be available as a pre-order "bonus" for anyone who feels like actually leaving the house and heading to their local retailer. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 should hit shelves on November 19.

It feels like 3 months ago when Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 came and went with the sound of 1 million flies gasping. Is there supposed to be anything new in this one, or is this just a new Madden/NHL/Fifa series?

Wrestling hasn't interested me since I was in middle school. Yawn.

These games are HUGE sellers. They add some new modes every year, and I think this year's big draw is some wild Extreme Championship Wrestling rules match, which will involve beating people with foreign objects, I'd guess.

What really intruiged me is using your own music for your intro. No more built in selection. Import your own mp3s for your entrance! (only on the 360)

Last year's they completely redid the control scheme. Greatly improved IMHO.

But I digress. They just don't have the draw to me like they used to.

I already have the demo. I just walked in my local EB Games last Friday and picked a disc up.

i just finish a week playing one that i got from EB GAMES. now i played the SmackDown games when they came out a long time ago, and after the "Vs. Raw" started i backed away. i can see why someone wouldn't give it a try, but with the steps they did to touch up the gamesplay. its something that should get a second look at from any player... never hurts to try.
