Congratulations to Dtoid_Nosmo for participating in this thing and also to Adam J Who and Christina Winterburn, the final winners of our WTF Is This Sh*t contest. We're pausing the WTF contest because, quite frankly, we're running out of shelf space! CEO cat requires adequate perching room to oversee Destructoid's editorial operations. Don't be mislead -- he sleeps with one eye open.
In other news, do you see that sexy header pic? It's real and its coming -- Destructoid is bringing back our Friday Night Fights tournament (remember the last one?) later this Summer and have all kinds of big prizes in store for you. In addition to random participation prizes for online web games (thanks Nitrome!) we'll also be hosting some online ladder matches, pitting Dtoiders head-to-dead in deathmatch battles. We'll also have a full online stats system so everyone can marvel at your towering e-peen when you win. It should be good times and we're working so that at most of the contest will be open to our Dtoiders overseas, underwater, etc.
Question is, what are your favorite head-to-head *PC* games? We're thinking along the lines of CounterStrike, Starcraft, Left 4 Dead, Warcraft III, Team Fortress 2, Quake, Call of Duty, FIFA, and Pong. Well, maybe not Pong. Street Fighter IV is due for the PC on July 7th, so we might do that as well. Please let us know which games you'd like to see appear in out tournament by dropping us a comment below!
Sexy times ahead!
It's the only game my 1998 Compaq Presario can run.
Why do I feel like a more organised version of Friday Night Fights will be a disaster. We'll have to see.
Perhaps I'm being pessimistic.
Definately consider Pirates Vikings and Knights 2. Pirates FTW!
The answer is Planetside btw. Oh and also TF2 ;P. I'm just happy for anything that'll promote some more PC gaming though...
And I guess everyone can do Quake with that Quake Live bit, though I've never checked if it lets you setup games with friends and all that. I always liked UT moar anyways. No comment on RTS games =X.
RTS games aren't really good for a competition because there is a much larger gap between newer and more experienced players. An experienced Starcraft player would just walk all over less experienced players effortlessly.
I think you could make some interesting bonus rounds with challenges like building the highest tower in World of Goo with a fixed number of Goo Balls.
Also, thats not what the site looks like now, im so confused as to which design is coming soon. That one or the one that we got a sneak peak at last night?
Users can acquire HLDM / HL2DM for $5-$10, same goes with Quake 1 & 2, Quake 3 goes for about $20 currently on steam. UT99 is going for about $10, UT2k4 for $15, and UT3 for $20.
Keep in mind that the older the game, the more people are most likely to take part in due to very little system requirements. Hell you could even go so far as to have a Doom II deathmatch competition with skulltag for doom 2 ;D.
Do you have a racing game for the PC we can duel to the death in? Because this seems like a good chance to finally get around to doing that :3
oh well. will be nice to watch though.
As for FNF tournament games... I'd say L4D, TF2, and Demigod (buy it!!!) for PC, and for 360... I guess SFIV, Bomberman Online, and Uno (yeah... I said Uno :P).
I'd love to see Tf2 for this tournament, because I pretty much play every single day. plus i would wreak everyone :P. (probably not)
Even if it's just for for shitty prizes
I think Unreal Tournament is a good idea. We may add a few bonus games in there just for fun.
plz?
comes housed in a black plastic case with stainless steel lugs at each side. The black
wristband is nicely crafted from leather, and in case you plan on banging your new watch
around a bit, the display is protected by a durable, scratch-resistant mineral crystal
