WTF: American Lost Odyssey packaging is extremely ghetto photo

The American version of the Lost Odyssey packaging sucks. Period. On the left hand side of the above image is the American packaging. It shoves three discs onto one spot and leaves the fourth disc in a little sleeve on the booklet portion. The right hand side of the image is the International packaging. The case is bigger and was designed to contain all four discs properly.

Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? JRPGs are known for their amazing cases (look at all the PS1 JRPGs). It's bad enough that the Xbox has next to no RPGs as it is, and when they do, it seems like they half ass everything. Sure, there are people who probably don't give a shit and just want to play the game. But in most cases, the people that buy these types of games are the hardcore collectors that try to keep everything nice and pristine.

None of this compares to Jared from GameTap review copy though. Now that's awesome.

Yeah, Blu-Ray. Nobody needs it. Let's just get every game onto 5 DVD's.

I picked up my copy 20min ago, I feel shafted :(

Also who cares about disk format, good games are good even if i have to get up once in few hours to change the disk, god forbid.

That is completely unacceptable. They must've had a budget cut or something to even be able to think about putting it out so atrociously.

There is no excuse for that. Its not just because of the die hard RPG geeks, I like to keep my discs secure and not scratched, I couldnt give two shits about any sort of fancy packaging, as long as it does its job.

This doesn't do its job.

The fact that it is 4 discs isn't a big deal at all, but this is just lazy, trying to save some money in production is fine but not when the package is crap.
JamesSorensen's Avatar
JamesSorensen at 02/13/2008 17:07
i guess the cost of disc and people paying 60 bux hurts their profit so they can't make an acceptable package

guess they should have used the blurays

Europe and Australia always pay more for the product. (Probably Canada too, ever since the US$ went belly up.)

We don't normally get better packaging, just release delays. I don't want to pay more for release delays.

Attention Console Makers: Region unlock my console please, or I'll do it myself

I don’t mind multiple discs, but that packaging is just unacceptable. Has no one at Microsoft seen multi-disc box sets of movies or TV shows?

OMG I just got home and opened it up and instead of playing the game, I cried for about 20 minutes, then I came on here and posted this msg and on like 5 other forums as well. I mean WTF??!?!?!?!!?!?!?!??!!?!? Theres a disc in a paper sleeve!!! I'd rather buy the Jap version and not understand a single word, rather than have to look at this pathetic paper sleeve or even actually play the game, which doesn't matter at all at this point. I just want to die, or kill someone, maybe both.

Yes, but they shouldn't be, back in the 90's the American dollar was crapping all over the Australian dollar, nowdays not so much. But they still feel the need to charge us between $95-$120 aud for a new release, without really justifying it.

either way I'm pissed because I actually want this game...and this does hinder my want of it. I dont want the place where I am supposed to store my discs safely to be the place that scratches the disc up.

What that picture does not show is that a few days later my Xbox 360 died and chewed through Disc 1 of that pretty game.
