WSJ to Disney: psst, go buy EA photo

The Wall Street Journal nudged Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger this weekend to say Hey, look. EA's stock is down 18%. You should buy that!

Yeah, owning EA would be nice for any company, even though the publisher's market value is down from $19 billion to just $7.2b. Just

I don't see it happening, though. Tech Trader Daily says that Disney would have to borrow some cash to make the purchase, and even WSJ said “Disney would be gutsy to step up during the current economic uncertainty."

TTD does point out that Disney owns ESPN, and drawing on EA's strength in sports game publishing could be interesting.

Also, weird ride is weird.

Ahaha, classic picture.

Disney owning EA would definately be interesting. They both regularly release crap (mediocre games with rehashed concepts/straight-to-DVD sequels) with nuggets of gold every once in a while (Dead Space/good localizations of Miyazaki films).

To clarify, I know Dead Space also rehashes concepts from previous games in the genre, but at least it's good.

Soulless company buying a soulless company. I wonder if they'd cancel each other out and grow a soul?

Sorry sharpie, 0-0=0.

However, if soul-mechanics work more like S1^-1+S2^-1, and one has a little bit of a soul, then... SOUL TIME :D

That could be interesting. However, I would only approve if they did Daffy Duck in Deadspace 2. that would definitely be good.

@Kennigit - Current market value and the percentage a stock drops don't always jive. Overpricing/underpricing, yada yada yada.

This is about as likely to happen as Nintendo buying Rockstar. If it ever were to happen, I think it would be very bad for all EA product, especially adult titles like Dead Space etc. They just wouldn't mix well, with what Disney are known for.

If Disney buys EA, Warren Spector will be able to make System Shock 3.
