Wow: Square Enix Japan's epic 'Bahamut' countdown timer photo

Remember awhile back when we pointed to a trademark for something called "Blood of Bahamut" by Square Enix? We hoped it was a Bahamut Lagoon remake. We're still not sure what the hell it is, but we now know when we will.

As of right now, this epic countdown timer at bahamut.jp show 5 days and 4 hours until ending time. We're sure that then this page will contain details behind the awesome image of a beast with city and mountain on his back. Reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus a bit, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with that.

I've heard talk of a new PSP game. Maybe that's what Blood of Bahamut is -- a PSP port or something.

I'm still pushing toward a remake of the Japanese only Super Famicom game Bahamut Lagoon, or some variant of. Check out the tiny icon for the web page where it says "countdown" in Japanese. Doesn't that look like a 16-bit sprite head to you?

Any ideas, folks?

The icon is definitely a 16-bit sprite.

Also the artwork looks a lot like it could fit into Bahamut Lagoon.

Sounds and looks more like a sequel than a remake to me.

How about that cities on top of gigantic monsters. I liked it better when the earth was flat and supported by a gigantic turtle on top of another turtle on top of another turtle on top of another...

That piece of art is the single most EPIC thing I think I've ever seen..

@Reaprar: FFVI remake possibly? Of course not, but one can dream.

Anyway, I've heard nothing but good things about Bahamut Lagoon so here's hoping it's something connected to it.

Bahamut Lagoon is great, and that would be awesome, provided this isn't a PSP game... which in my opinion would be a waste of the 'epic' spewing out of that page.

On a side note, in my opinion the music sounds distinctly more FFVI...

Indeed... I think it sounds like a mix between "Floating Continent", "Mount Koltz", and "the Veldt" from FFVI.

Severely badass.
