WoW expansion coming this year...polar bear mounts included? photo

I hear some people who play World of Warcraft still have social lives and care about things other than epic raids, and this does my heart good, as I worry that gamers are falling into that pit that Chinese MMO fans are rapidly being sucked down. I like MMOs, but I don't want to die for them!

Regardless of what category your WoW habit falls into, you'll be pleased to know that Vivendi has confirmed the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for this year. Blizzard is remaining tight-lipped, so I'm not sure you should don your epic armor just yet, but it looks positive so far. Also, its been suggested that polar bears will be added as mounts, although there's no confirmation on that either. That almost makes me want to play the game just to get one ... I freaking love polar bears.

I guess they're only doing this because The Golden Compass flopped, and there's less reason to sue. ;-)

Eh. I'll probably renew my account, level to 80, and stop playing again. I never got my Epic Flying mount this expansion, and I probably won't unless I decide to farm for it a month or so before the next expansion comes out. Something about that game rubs me the wrong way now, not really sure what it is though...

Wait I'm confuse didn't they just announce that it wouldn't release till next year. Lowering their project earnings and in turn lowering their stock price? Seems awful odd.

Can't wait till this comes out. Got back into WoW about a month ago and have been playing it addictively with my brother and my mates. Such a good game (+ it means I don't have to spend money on other games since I play it so much, 360/Wii have had no use recently). Death Knight class looks spot on as well. Level 80 raids will be savage as well :-)

I wouldn't play this game, except that my friends and family do, so it's really the best way to hang out with my brother, cousin, and misc buddies. Sigh. But I've managed to play once in awhile without becoming a mental wasteland, so I think it's alright.

Polar bear mounts would be awesome, but like all awesome things, won't be available to me because I can't put in the amount of time needed to raid/do arena-PVP for good stuff. I liked the idea of professions, because you can slooooowly grind them up on your own (I think it's fun?), but of course they don't really get you good stuff anymore. As long as they keep raising the level cap I can sneak into old content, though, which is kinda nice.

My 13 year old nephew has been chewing my ear off about this. Looks to be a fun expansion though and the fact that you can immediately start a 55+ character is epic win.

I'm really liking the Death Knight. Start out at 55 with a brand new plate class that can summon undead and wreck all kinds of nasty, plaguey havok? Yes PLEASE. Also, the decision to make ALL big raid dungeons availible in 10 and 25 man flavors means maybe I'll actually get to do the Arthas fight, which is something I've been lamenting (I've never been the big-raid type) so maybe I will drop a few months into this game. I understand this game comes and goes for people, but don't all games? Play it for a month then move on?
