"I'm assuming it's like the D2 ladder resets. It's 1 account, but it's being played by 2-3 people in sequence."
This. There's only 168 hours in a week. My guess is it's more then one person.
I'm talking about squiggly yellow lines rising up and all.

WoW: Cataclysm: Top player logged 149 hours in one week
Wow, that dude is crazy. In fact, all of the stats we got from Raptr on World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are pretty crazy. We already knew that the game broke sales records, selling 3.3 million copies in a day, but some of these other stats also have to be records of some sort. Raptr says that the top 11 percent of WoW: Cataclysm players generated over 50 percent of the total playtime hours. That guy that played for 149 hours in one week (over 6 days straight!) surely helped push that number up. About a third of the overall audience plays the WoW for over 30 hours a week. What? How? Raptr's reports say that playtime has grown five times since the summer of 2010, and now WoW beats out other games like StarCraft 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops for total playtime hours. Expansion pack brings 'em back! Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I don't understand the urge to blaze through an MMO like that. There's not going to be another expansion for God knows how long, so why go hell for leather, no matter how good it is. I mean, sleep is pretty good too... It really did bring everyone back...I never had to wait to log in during peak hours before. Now I've got a 2+ hour wait behind 1500-2000 other peeps. Oy. I'm sure other servers are worse, though. I'm assuming it's like the D2 ladder resets. It's 1 account, but it's being played by 2-3 people in sequence. @DeusPayne,
"I'm assuming it's like the D2 ladder resets. It's 1 account, but it's being played by 2-3 people in sequence." This. There's only 168 hours in a week. My guess is it's more then one person. In the defense of that guy with obvious real life issues, Cataclysm is incredibly well-produced. Every old zone has been reworked so well that I felt like I was playing a new game with very familiar mechanics on my newly rolled worgen. The quests have all been redone too and they convey the mood and story even better than in vanilla WoW. In short, I'm very surprised Cataclysm took so little time to be released with everything that's in it. Blizzard bashing is fun and everything, but at the end they know how to make damn good video games, all the time. What a waste! Hopefully this sad moron won't breed an pass on his or her useless genes. So scratch that, keep playing! i never thought about more then 1 person playing an account, but with WoW, i couldn't imagine that happening, especially since your paying for it, this game just goes to show you how video games are NOT healthy for you... this game gives video games a bad name and always will, but ppl are so ADDICTED to it, they will never see that... Really, you guys don't believe someone actually played all of those hours, do you? A bot is most likely, or maybe a shared account for the purpose of gold farming. At the very least, it's just someone who never signed off when they slept or did other things. Just think about the stank coming off of the seat of that person's gaming chair.
I'm talking about squiggly yellow lines rising up and all. That's more than 21hrs a day...... You know I'm a grown man now, I've got my own home, my own life, and I can generally do whatever I want to as long as I've got the money in my wallet. If I was that fuckin lazy though I would stil expect my father, or mother even to kick down my front door, slap me around, and tell me to get my ass into gear. Even if I were on vacation. What a waste of a week. I seriously don't know how these people do it. I used to play WoW but couldn't get passed the 3hr mark and getting burned out much less the people who seem to put 12+ in one day. Need a break some times. I can't even stay awake more than 2 days straight much less 6 and I wouldn't even want to try. Although the argument that it could be multiple players on a single account or a bot is plausible, with the recent release of this expansion I wouldn't be surprised of those trying to gobble up as much of the expansion in a short amount of time by themselves. I've played a lot since the expansion dropped, but no where near this. Maybe. 84-85 took me ~ 10 hours, so whatever. Anyways, Cataclysm is easily a GOTY contender, but will probably be overlooked and dismissed and just an MMO. I've played a lot since the expansion dropped, but no where near this. I have to say, my favorite feature in WoW was the ability to type /played and get you total play time for that character, and be utterly disgusted by it. World of Walking bites. Slow combat, helpless need of a trinity and this obsessive balancing of 1 team vs 1 monster is some boring shit....you morons will play anything Damn, dude.
