Would you play the portable Xbox 360? photo

When we say portable Xbox, we definitely don't mean strapping yourself to an HDTV and walking around the block -- that's just dumb AND pointless. One look at the compact little model above, though, and you might find yourself tempted to play around with the idea.

Of course, it's not real at all -- it comes from T3, and it's merely a vision of what a portable 360/Zunephone would look like. Pair it with the hot chick holding it in the gallery pic, and you have a surefire seller on your hands. Would this be relevant to your interests?

Considering the probable price and how little I use my PSP, I'm going to go ahead and say no, it's not relevant to my interests... Unless it's relatively cheap and has great exclusives... But most likely no...

nope.

I already have a Nintendo DS and PSP and I only play on my DS - you don't need bigger graphics on a portable, you need more experience like stylus/touchscreen etc.

Not if it's shaped like that. Seriously, it looks uncomfortable with the perfectly square sides. Are there like, triggers on the back? How the hell does that fit into my pocket nicely if it does? If not, then it's gimped from the console 360. And are they using nubs for the analog sticks? I thought that was a potential use for the spiffy touch pad that the Zune80 has. And the d-pad, but I see that's been mentioned before.

If it looked better than that, had a lot of sync features for my 360 (think extra HUD info, maps etc when playing a game on the 360) and had really good Xbox Live integration.

I wouldnt bother with a portable if it didnt support my main console. I simply dont play on them enough and prefer the main console.

Personally i'd prefer it if i could buy a game licence over xbox live then whatever future Live Anywhere device i use i can play it (if available) with all my saved games etc there. Not going to happen but a good dream.

But yes id buy it if it looked better and had cross system functions.

Hell yea! How sweet would games like Gears of War and Halo be portbale? Also it would be tight was hell if you could use your same gamertag and keep things such as achievements on the same account and such as well as friends list.

I think that would be sweet!

First, that design looks pretty bad, from the recessed d-pad to the unnecessarily wide screen.

Second, only if I'm assured by the beta testers (aka first year purchasers) that the hardware doesn't suffer from a high failure rate.

My primary interest in it would be if they made it so you could play your XBLA games on it. Otherwise it gets a nice firm "Meh" from me.

"It's like a Red Ring of Death in my pocket!"

If the hot chick comes with it, I'll consider. Otherwise, I'm really not a huge fan of handheld gaming. It just sounds like another opportunity for fail, a la the PSP.

If this was powered by a potato and played all other portable formats including psp I STILL would not want one.

DS is king and IPOD shows promise, I am pretty sure that portability is not too high up in the Xbox division HQ.

T3's modeler should go back to college too. Looks mighty comfortable ;)

Since the current design already overheats, I'd imagine a portable 360 would melt my hands off.

lol, did someone fire a starting gun or something for the 360 basholympics? ;)

As for me, it looks pretty bad, but if they

- swapped the left joystick/nipple thing and the dpad (ala the 360 controller),
- gave it a redesign so it looks more like the PSP,
- allowed you to play multiple media from it,
- had compatibility with .pdf and standard video/audio,
- allowed you to import files direct from windows (no itunes etc bullshit)
- allowed me to use my existing gamertag, xbla games, and
- had a compatible achievement system

then they have my money.

I wouldn't mind a cross-platform portable that actually serves a purpose (i.e. a gaming phone) that does both gaming and telephony exceptionally well. That's where the N-gage failed. talking while the unit is on its side instead of like a standard phone would? FAIL. I was thinking about how cool a Windows Mobile device would be if it had an analog nub and face buttons that would be decent to play games with. Most smartphones already have the touch screen that makes the DS so popular. A smartphone that has a hard drive, and decent controls suitable for gaming would blow me away like two hookers and an 8-ball, and all the moar reason to sell off my t-mobile wing for a better phone.

For me it all depends on the games. If there is something worth owning on the handheld then I'll buy it. Or if it's compatible with my current 360 collection.

Exactly. Also, if it's made by Microsoft, it'd definitely be huge, which would make the portability pointless. And yes, portable rrod.

Not digging the girl's wig or makeup, either.

I would only play a portable 360 if it had at least one joystick. Knowing Microsoft's horrible track record with D-pads I wouldn't be able to play exclusively with one.
