Oh, Heeell NO! That's not the cover for one of my favorite games ever! Can someone please explain to me what the Capcom folks were smoking when they OK'd this SHIT!? Are you telling me they actually thought this looked good!? Was this art "strategically" chosen for the U.S. market!? FAWK YOU biatches! I don't get it-I just don't get it. Capcom has some of the coolest artists, yet look at the crap we got. This was an insult to all North American gamers! If they pull this stunt again, Destructoid will be the proud assembler of a pissed-off legion of hardcore gamers to flood Capcom offices with hate-mail. You've seen something worse? Let us know! WORST BOX ART AS A SERIES: MEGAMAN
You'd think that people would take notice how popular anime actually is in America and leave japanese games alone. But no - like Kuri said, these companies have ethnically corrected some of the box art for us. Case and point: check out the japanese box:

Not the best I've seen, but it was the first in the series, so its beautiful compared to what we got:

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? IT LOOKS LIKE HIS SKULL IS MELTING AND HIS FACE IS STARTING TO CAVE INTO NECK, SO HE'S FLEXING HIS ARMS TO KEEP HIS HELMET FROM FALLING, WHICH IN POPPED HIS CHEST CAVITY INWARD. OH THE HUMANITY!

A little better, but he's wearing 80's booties and spandex.

DIE DIE DIE. Watch out for the Robotic asthma-snail!
Lucky for us, somebody finally smarted up and starting using anime box art. It only took them XXIII sequels!

WORST BOX ART-PRODUCING COMPANY: I think its a tie between Capcom and Acclaim, only because they chose to put Favio on the cover of...

That's not the Japanese box art for Mega Man, it's the European one (although it might have been used elsewhere as well).
Here's the Japanese box art:

Personally, I like the European better than the Japanese one. It's accurate enough and it's a nice piece of art.
The American Mega Man 2 cover art is alright, it's still not accurate (pistol, visor, Wily looks like Light), but cool nonetheless.
