Worms DLC hits XBLA tomorrow; thank god you only need the one kidney photo

Continuing the semi-new fad of coaxing cash from your customer's metaphorical teats until they're metaphorically red and sore and start exuding some kind of metaphorical greenish mucous, Team 17, the underappreciated geniuses behind the Worms franchise will be unleashing some new DLC for the XBLA iteration of Worms tomorrow. The content will include the requisite gamer pics, and themes (at the typical 100-200 MS Point range), as well as three new landscapes: Hell (150 MS Points), Jungle (150 MS Points) and Space (0 MS Points).

Fortunately, the Space landscape is slated to be a free download, so instead of just the metaphorical sodomy of being charged for the same content you could download for free on a PC back in Aught One, they're giving you a lil' cuddle and calling you "tiger" beforehand.

(Editor's Note: This post was brought to you by the fine people at the Institute for a Metaphorical Tomorrow: If you can't actually make a useful analogy, use a metaphor! -- Nex)

[Metaphorical props to Kotaku

Yeah, this is some really useless stuff. If they added in weapons, now thats something, but I'm not paying for a background that does nothing to improve gameplay.

Where's my baseball bat? Where's my Concrete Donkey? Where's my holy hand grenade?

Fuck this, I want more weapons, not more useless background props.

Grim, you have made it nigh impossible for me to finish my drink because your pic will flash constantly in my mind and make me spew it out in laughter.

Theres enough hassle getting into a Worms match already without being barred from a match 'cos I havent got the new backgrounds the host has, argghh.
Sort out ur priorities T17, we need reliable matchmaking and better weapon sets before you can expect us to shell out even more MS points. Greedy boy!

Sigh. Why can't the rest of the XBLDLC be more like the (M$ published, ironically) Crackdown content? I mean, for ten bucks you added weapons, vehicles, in-game tasks, new game types, in addition to some bug fixes (which you would've gotten with the free DL, along with the new game types and in-game tasks). Spend ten more bucks on Worms, and it's the same game. You'll get some neeto gamer pictures and themes, and a new level on which to play this mediocre game. Microtransactions are going to ruin gaming if they don't start offering this non-content at a fair price or offer real content for your dollarz.
