Worms arrive on Facebook in closed beta

3:00 PM on 08.07.2012

Those wacky Worms are on their way to becoming socially acceptable. Team 17 has announced that a closed beta test for the upcoming Facebook version of their classic artillery dueling title, Worms, has begun. Fans of the aggro annelids can go sign up for entry now, as players will be added to the beta daily.

I've signed up, but I doubt this social version of the game will see very much play from me in the long term (despite my being a huge fan of the series) just because I'm likely to forget that it exists in the huge cloud of constantly moving content on Facebook. Team 17 is planning to keep adding new content and items, which should keep the game fresh for those who have the attention span to stick with it, though, and the simplicity of the design has a lot of potential on the platform.

Anybody get into the beta yet and had a chance to check it out?
