Worms 2, King of Fighters '98 comes to XBLA this week photo

Because Worms was totally awesome on Xbox LIVE Arcade, Team 17 made a sequel, Worms 2: Armageddon. Sure, the name is uninspired, but it is by all accounts pretty awesome, and it’s coming out this Wednesday. It’ll cost you 800 MS Points, features new play modes, and multiplayer support up the wahzoo.

Xbox LIVE Arcade gets even more SNK fighter love this week with The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match. So if for some crazy reason you’re already done playing Garou, here’s your chance to spend another 800 MS Points for 64 more fighters, and online multiplayer support.

My suggestion: If you’re already purchased Garou, go with Worms 2, because you already have your 2D fighter fix. Hell, if you haven’t purchase Garou, still get Worms 2. I think you get where I’m going with this.

But no listens to me, and I don't really blame them. So what XBLA plans do you have this week?

Damn you PSN, where's our SNK love?!?! Also KOF98 is not the same thing as Garou. It's like comparing Street Fighter Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike.

HAAAALLELUJAH! Cant wait. I missed those weapons in worms. You know what else they should have add? The "Make your own voices" options.

I bought the last Worms simply because I needed a fix.

Is THIS Worms actually WORTH buying? I mean, the last one was gimped compared to pretty much every computer and portable version available. I'm beginning to think they intentionally omitted a bunch of stuff simply so they could sell this second one.

I'd love if you'd elaborate on "multiplayer support up the wahzoo." Guests on Live? Cooperative (2 vs 2 instead of 4 player free for all) play? What's the dealio?

I will ignore Sterling on this one and go out and buy MS Points and then buy Garou, KOF98 UM and save some money for Marvel vs Capcom 2 when that comes out. then I need money for BlazBlue, KOF XII and I need to save money for my preorder of Tatsunoko vs Capcom... God, I am such a fighting game git.

I hope it's not too long before Worms 2 is released on PSN, but I have Worms 1 on PC, Armageddon on N64 (the best :P ) and Worms on PSN to tide me over.

Team 17, make it happen NAO! :]

@DinnertimeNinja, I believe they aren't taking anything out of the game this time (it's meant to be pretty much a straight port from the N64 Worms: Armageddon, which will be good). So they should be keeping all the unique weapons it has.

The only thing I know for certain they are doing is revamping the graphics and putting in Online play.

King of Fighters 98 is a classic. If I didnt already have it for Dreamcast, PS2, Wii and PSP I would definitely download the fuck out of it.

Why does everyone regard '98 as the best? Is it just the most balanced?

You can equivocate KOF 98 with Street Fighter Alpha 3. All the characters from the series(up to 97 anyway) along with options of systems makes for alot of variety and fairly balanced play.

Already bought a 1600 point card for Rocket Riot(awesome) and Worms 2. There are better Arcade games coming out this summer than normal retail games.

Isn't Kodu supposed to come out any day now as well?

I don't know, is there REALLY that much difference between the current Worms and Worms 2? I mean, enough to make me buy it if i'd already played Worms for months.
