Worms 2: Armageddon gets priced right, dated for next week photo

Informing the masses through Facebook (I would've preferred Twitter myself), Team 17 has revealed the specifics of Worms 2: Armageddon's Xbox LIVE Arcade debut. It'll be up on the Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points starting on Wednesday, July 1.

While XBLA's first Worms title was a little lacking due to size restrictions at the time, I'm fully inclined to believe Armageddon will more than make up for its predecessor's shortcomings, especially at such a lovely price point.

The recently released Rocket Riot has gotten me in the mood for some hot Worms action, no doubt about it. I can only hope to not make an ass out of myself by accidentally jumping into the water like so many times before.

[Thanks, Scott]

I'm glad I put off buying the previous xbla versions. This one looks to have s lot more interesting weapons.

I WOULD buy this, but I'm going to buy Battlefield 1943 instead. Sorry Worms. Maybe some other time? Idk. I'll call you.

I will check out the demo and see if:
1. The rope physics are fixed
2. It allows us to pick where our worms start
3. It allows indestructable terrain
4. It allows more customization in general of game types.

I will probably grab this eventually, but only immediately if it really lives up to the Armageddon name.

It's okay that Worms has not improved since the release of Armageddon in 1999. They hit on a good formula that's still good. But actually it seems like they keep gimping it in subsequent releases. Let's hope they can get it right again. I'd gladly pay $10 to be able to recapture the fun I had with this 10 years ago.

At least they are giving us the good worms. I mean come on, if you are choosing to remake one for next gen machines, remake the best of them all. I'm not satisfied with the neutered version we currently have on PSN and XBLA.

I'm praying for a PSN release soon as well. Also, 100% agree with Dexter.

I guess I am easily pleased, because I thoroughly enjoyed the first XBLA Worms. So this new one should be even more enjoyable. Woo!

If it's a direct port I'll be happy to buy it.

Just give us a port of Worms - Modern WArfare 2 for the psp and i will be happy. That was by far the best worms yet and has every feature you could possibly want.

I think you're mixing names here; it's Open Warfare 2. But yes, it's a great worms game, although I still think Armageddon was the best in the series.

Do want. I liked Worms, despite the limitations.

Holy hand grenade? DAY ONE PURCHASE! I've played hours of worms on the dreamcast and just pissed me off that the current worms game doesn't have any of the great weapons. Very happy armageddon is coming!

Years ago, I was completely addicted to the Dreamcast version of this game (which I believe was also subtitled Armageddon).

Can I become addicted again?.....

If it is anything like Armageddon in terms of quantity of weapons, it's a definite sale for me.
