World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King debut trailer

     World of Warcraft

You've heard the rumors about its existence, but now we hold real proof: Here's a first look at Blizzard's latest expansion to World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King. From Blizzard:

The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King's will and end his reign of terror for all time.

Blizzard Entertainment's latest expansion to World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. Players will achieve soaring levels of power, explore a vast new continent, and battle other high-level heroes to determine the fate of Azeroth.
WOWers, are you ready? Are you ready to check out the first of the Hero class, the Death Knight? Are you ready for level 80? Are you ready to sign away the rest of your life?

Be sure to check out the official Wrath of the Lich King web page.

Dear Blizzard,

When SC2 comes out we can make out again. Until then, you're cut off.

PS - Anyone want to take bets on how long till people cap out this time? Two weeks instead of BC's one?

It's not actually another class. It's an alternate advanced class that you will quest for at level 80, giving you the ability to make the character that is intended for end game content only.

Sounds like a Raid Bitch Class to me more than a Hero Class

I'm with elpoopacabra, I thought I had left Azeroth behind. I haven't wanted to play months, and then this comes along. I'm still somewhat skeptical of how the destructible buildings will play out. If they actually allow you to feel like you are in a war, like the game says you are, and you can hinder the progress of the opposite faction, then sweet. If it's only in battlegrounds and it is one objective of said battleground, gay.

Same 'ol S**t with a different bow on it. Can you blame them? Sad to see blizz create a "grind" for themselves. Even it does give them a license to print money.

This fucks up new players royally. Unless they start on new or semi-new servers, the gap is ridiculous. Everyone will either be level 10, or level 100.

Speaking for myself, the art style easily makes up for the lack of polys, and having been out of the PC hardware arms race a few years myself I appreciate the accessibility this grants older systems.

It might sound like a small addition but I'm actually looking forward to changeable hairstyles. After playing a character for so long it'll be nice to tweak their appearance some. Hopefully facial detail can be changed now too... my NE hunter hasn't shaved in like two years.

I thought I quit as well. Now I kinda want to get back in. But I need to update my computer a bit to make it run at the level I want it at.
I think I might be able to fight this off once school starts again.

I think blizzards art direction is amazing, the game itself isnt outdated but its not NEXTGEN. I'm not a sucker for graphics really but I do enjoy seeing all the new technologies. But really... WoW wouldn't be a better game with higher poly characters and world terrain.

Aww, only a crappy in-game video? I usually look forward to some epic CG sequences when Blizz release info about a new game/expansion.

@Macr - you stole the words right out of my mouth.
They make everything look so damned epic.

I am a huge shadow/death knight fanboy ever since my days of EQ. I guess I will be returning to WoW, even if it means leveling yet another character to 70 for it. >.<

Fucking Blizzard. I swear to fucking god. I just got over my WoW addiction that came back when burning crusade came back. Now Death Knight class? THATS WHAT I WANTED WHEN I STARTED THE GAME.

I HATE YOU BLIZZARD.

I HATE YOU SO MUCH.

(I can't wait for this to come out.)

I HOPE YOUR STUDIO BURNS DOWN.

(I don't want to go back to WoW. But I will.)

How about I just give you my money and you just kick me in the nuts for 5 months.

@ Rezbit

If you remember, the epic 'You are not prepared' vid didnt come along until muuuuuch later. A few months before the game actually released, IIRC.

So patience. And no, we will NEVER be prepared.

Great, just what we need from Blizzard, another "original" level cap raise, another "new" profession, another new zone. Same old one trick pony, sigh. And with the new hero class, great, now there will be 5 billion Death Knights walking around since they are just releasing one at a time. Sounds fun -_-.

So...everyone will be a Death Knight now. Sounds like Star Wars Galaxies.

I was a little tempted when I saw this footage but then I remembered how quickly I cancelled my account again when BC came out.

The landscapes look cool, but just imagine yourself grinding through them, not paying attention because you can't find that #$%@ing mob, and then you have to check the internet to find it but, oops, it didn't drop the item.

I enjoyed the trailer because I wasn't playing it.

I got 2 and 1/2 words.

MID-LEVEL CONTENT!!!!!

I was already pulled back in with the burning crusade, when my blood elf reached lvl 20 and I realized I am going to play the same crap I had been playing for the next couple of months till my elf hits lvl58 to get at the new content I canceled. If there is no new content for 20-50 lvl toons This is another big load of crap built to keep the hardcore grinders accounts active.

I am feeling the pull though........help me plz?

Anyont know anything bout what lvls get new instances or grind areas?
Sockapal's Avatar
Sockapal at 08/04/2007 14:38
@Boognish: If I were you I'd stay away, and find myself easily avoiding WoW now. Blizzard has completely screwed up the entire game. All old instances are obsolete, as will be the case with LK. The gear you work hard to get becomes outdated and easily attainable from everyone in a matter of months. The classes are still severely unbalanced, and will be further unbalanced with the addition of a "hero" class that starts at 50/60... Just too many issues and grinding fests to care for me, but to each his own.
