World of Warcraft: The Magazine is happening photo

Future is planning to give World of Warcraft fans an eyeful of editorial. The company just announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to publish World of Warcraft: The Magazine, or A Nerd’s Dream. To be sold quarterly and only via subscription, the magazine will cover all facets of the super-popular MMO.

According to official release, Future plans to offer two subscription plans. A one-year subscription is $39.95, while a two-year package will cost $69.95. Europeans will have to pay 34.95 EUR and 61.25 respectively.

The first issue contains 148 pages of World of Warcraft stuff officially sponsored by Blizzard, so we imagine that even the voracious MMO Internet reader will find something that hasn’t been posted on a blog. Probably.

The magazine is debuting at BlizzCon 2009 at Future’s booth. The publisher plans to sell subscriptions at the event and is giving away green murloc plushies to any that lay down the coin. The magazine will also be sold through the game's Account Management tab and at this official Web site (which launches tomorrow).

If it were an MMO magazine I would understand. Hell if it were a Blizzard magazine I would kind of understand.

But a WoW mag? Just for one game? Really? That's milkin' it pretty intensely. Surely there is already some WoW newsletter corretc?

Isn't there already a magazine for an MMO like WoW?

Isn't it called [i]the internet[/]?

40$? Damn. They are gonna eat this up. But it's useless since the community and support is strong on the net.

@Xhumation

Why would anybody need WoW condoms? Anybody actually willing to buy them would never ever get laid.

There's lots of reasons you would get WOW condoms!

Your mentally disabled cousin in town? You found a girl unconcious or with low self esteem? Your used blow up doll looks off and you wanna be safe?

WOW CONDOMS!

WE KNOW YOU LIKE TO PRETEND!

I'd buy WoW condoms, just to prove that somebody could get laid while using them. Say hello to my level 60 dwarf rogue (self deprecation!? what's that?)... Seriously though, WoW has become a brand -- and people will buy it.

If I were still addicted, I'd probably buy this for W.C. reading material.

I don't know how this magazine can remain timely. All the addicts will have read everything in the WoW forums months before they bother to publish it there, and hours after that information is posted on the forums, Blizzard will release a patch to "Nerf" it.

Half of the articles should be denial defenses. "LEETMonger, who plays for Come Honor Face, plays so much more than you do. You're not that bad. Article on page 72, after the World of Porncraft advertisement."
