World at War PC patch 1.6 with more (free) maps out now photo

Another patch for the PC version of Call of Duty: World at War, another round of free maps. This time, it's the three maps from Map Pack 3: "Battery," "Breach," and "Revolution." Plus, there's the standard Nazi zombie level, which in this case happens to be "Der Riese."

You can download the file by clicking here, or if you play World at War via Steam, it should be available from there as well. The patch notes can be found after the break, and beyond that, there isn't much more to add. For those wondering about the strange picture above, allow me to explain.

Essentially, a person can only use the same in-game screenshot for stories so many times before they go mad. Like a fool, I used a single World at War image one time too many, so now I've gone mad. Hence the unusual image above.

  • 3 new Multiplayer maps: Battery (mp_drum), Breach (mp_bgate), Revolution (mp_vodka)!
  • New Nazi Zombie map: Der Riese (nazi_zombie_factory), an all-new Zombie map set in a secret Nazi research facility featuring the Pack A Punch Machine, Teleporters, and many more undead hordes!
  • Exploits pertaining to Demo playback.
  • Favorites list now ignores filter settings.
  • Fixed S&D round counting error when roundlimit is reached.
  • New feature: in-game Add to Favorites.
  • Friends list: green online indicator.
  • Starting the game in Safe Mode will no longer toggle the "Soften Smoke Edges" graphic option.
  • Fixed various crashes.
  • Mods: Client will no longer join a modded Co-op server via Game Invite unless they have that mod loaded.
  • Mods: Client running a mod will be asked to unload the mod if they attempt to join an unmodded server.
  • Mods: All singleplayer levels can now be run with a mod loaded.

All this free dlc on the pc is starting to make me think that Activision really wants us to have all the dlc for free.

Then I wake up.

I just tried WaW today to see if I would like MW2. I didn't know if I wanted a realistic shooter, or just one where you don't need to empty a clip on someones head just to get them to half health. WaW didn't disappoint. It was really fun, and I'm looking forward to MW2 even more now.

@Gamad
I'm in the minority, but I like WaW better than Modern Warfare: especially if you play on PC hardcore/realistic servers only. WaW is a much more visceral experience if you play the right servers.

"Activision really wants us to have all the dlc for free. Then I wake up."

Microsoft and Sony are the bigger powers-that-be at work there.

I'm no PETA nutjob, but it's pretty pathetic to use a picture of a dead cat on a front page news post.

Simple answer:

The developers/publishers themselves control it, and want you to enjoy their product.

For consoles, Microsoft and Sony love dat money.

I see you've become an even bigger asshole in my absence. Nice compelling argument btw.

Its a horrible picture and in very poor taste, I know this site caters to unwanted /b/ tards but this is a little much, I'd expect this from Jim but not from Jordan.

@Kyousuke

Thanks. It feels like a constant battle with the idiot's Jim attracts on this site. Which is bizarre given how mature the vast majority of the other writers are.

It's almost impossible to have an adult discussion because of militant apathists who will illiterately mock your daring to have an opinion about something.

Anyway, I digress.

I got mine. Actually, I'm playing a bit through Monkey Island 2 before I get started. Plus, this means I can get the rest of them on Wii since only the first one sufferes from poor sound conversion.
