World at War PC gets a patch, 'Map Pack 2' for free tomorrow photo

Call of Duty: World at War's "Map Pack 2" was extremely popular with the console crowd. So popular, in fact, that the premium $10 add-on was downloaded more than one million times in its debut week alone. In tomorrow's patch for the PC version of the game, Treyarch is graciously including the very same DLC for free.

The actual patch itself brings a number of new things, including: mod-related improvements, letting co-op hosts kick players from their lobby, better spawns for dogs in multiplayer, and yes, fixes for some errors.

Obviously, the big news here is that free Map Pack. While free content for PC games is still expected from quite a few people these days, it's always a pleasure to see when it does happen now that paid DLC has become so prevalent on consoles.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this. I was thinking that they'd charge for the DLC on PC, as well. It's nice to see free DLC on PC still alive and kicking. :)

I think its a insolence!!!
Pc users are mostly adults which have more money than the console clientele wich are mostly kids. I mean a guy who can afford an extra graphix card for his pc to run High end Games on his machine wich are mostly expensive than a console itself shouldnt get stuff for free when others have to pay for it! Pc users allways get free stuff in in terms of mods. Iam only saying: Oblivion or L4D! Its kind of a 2nd class society. Taking the money from the kids and giving the content for free to the Adults. At least they should offer the maps for free on every platform at the same time, otherwise its unfair! They know that ps3 and xbox users cant download the content illegal from the inet so they have to pay. Other than the pc users wich can get everything for free if they wanted to.

Sir playedallot,
I been a PC gamer from the time I was 8 so that throws your argument out the window. I do agree that most if not all DLC should be free especially maps for a game you already paid for. Look at it this way, us "adults" have actual bills to pay and therefore are less likely to waste money on extra content.

Sir playedallot you do realize the community supplies itself with maps so it would be silly to sell "map packs".

Here's a scenario for you. A guy on FPSbanana named "CaptainCom" tries to sell his skins. He would be laughed at so bad. Free content is so prevalent because we're not locked in to what one company tube feeds us.

Sir Playedallot: It isn't because of piracy that PC gets these map packs free (and much later), it's because not many people are stupid enough to pay for a few maps when the community is constantly churning out their own content for the game.

Stop talking shit.
