Work on Tekken x Street Fighter not even started

2:40 PM on 05.11.2011 // Nick Chester

Last year, Namco Bandai and Capcom announced Tekken x Street Fighter and Street Fighter x Tekken games, respectively.

Since then, Capcom has been hard at work on making its game a reality. It even had a fully playable version of the game (pictured here) at its Captivate event in Miami earlier this year, and we expect even more playable at E3 in June. So far, it's looking great.

Namco Bandai on the other hand, well… hasn't been doing much of anything on the Tekken x Street Fighter front.

"We really haven't started on Tekken X Street Fighter," producer Katsuhiro Harada told press at a Namco Bandai event in Dubai. "Things are going well with Street Fighter X Tekken, and we'll have more on that at E3. We hope you look forward to that."

When speaking with Street Fighter x Tekken producer Yoshinori Oni earlier this year, I was told that Namco Bandai has zero input when it comes to Capcom's title. So instead of working on its own game, they're just sitting around waiting for Capcom to make a move, eh?

Interesting tactic, I suppose. I'm already confident Capcom has a solid fighter on its hands; in light of this latest news, should I hold the same hopes for Namco's take on the franchise rivalry?
