Word is, From Dust SUCKS on PC (and has sh*t DRM) photo

Dust in your PC is a classic problem, and one that Ubisoft has apparently parodies with the computer port of From Dust. The weird little God-game has earned much rage from the PC gamer community, and it's been advised that you stay away from the game until it's been fixed (if it ever is).

Forums, social networks and sites like Rock, Paper, Shotgun have been reporting all sorts of crap, making this one PC port to avoid.

First of all, it features crappy DRM. While it doesn't force a constant online connection, it does require online validation every single time you start the game. Once you get past that, you can look forward to a fixed framerate, poor resolution choices, and a host of glitches. Oh, and no anti-aliasing either, because who doesn't love getting headaches?

Ah, Ubisoft just loves making friends with PC gamers.

Once again proving the superiority of consoles.

Keep on keeping on, Ubisoft.

Way to go ubisoft, you guys TOTALLY don't look like complete and utterly incompetent douchebags to the gaming community.

Totally.

See, this god sim style of play lends itself very well to mouse control and PC power...and then this happens.

I was going to get this on Steam but perhaps I'll just wait for an XBL sale instead.

Bit of a shame really.

The capped framerate is infuriating, and I love how the recommend spec calls for a i7, for a damn xbox port. Fun game, I bought it on the wrong platform, fuck u ubisoft, don't even bother with the pc, you obviously aren't interested.

This game used to be high on my want-list. But it's been falling farther and farther down as I hear more and more bad news and reviews about it. Maybe I'll get it when it's like $1.50 on a nice Steam deal...

For fuck's sake. The DRM is easily fixed by downloading a crack for it, but the lack of Anti-Aliasing is just fucking stupid. I was really anxious to have this game on the PC, but now I think I'll pass.

Nice trolling... sorta. Considering this is more ubisofts bad than PC's bad tho, u still sound kinda, well... dumb?

Either that or you're just painfully unamusing trolls that aren't even clever or funny.

If u need guidance, however, do pay close attention to stealth or soffik. They can get u started in the right direction

"See, this god sim style of play lends itself very well to mouse control"

That's exactly why I passed on the 360 version. I hated the controls and camera. Now I'm reading in the Steam community forums that the 360 controller is highly recommended. *facedesk*

I love how one bad port of a game apparently destroys an entire platform. Ignore all the other quality titles and exclusives it has to offer, this one exact bad game means the death of the entire system. Keep in mind I'm not saying PC because it applies to all the platforms.

Recently bought a Sega Saturn just because I expect consoles to become less relevant in the future and I still want something capable of playing games on when the PC takes over the market completely. At least the Saturn has some cool games I haven't played yet.

Bad graphics settings? Over ride them at the driver level. Stupid DRM? Buy the game, but download the inevitable crack for it. We don't need to put up with this BS. We transcend these annoyances.

Yeah seriously. These people are morons. Bayonetta launch on ps3 is subpar? Drop the ps3. FF13 better on PS3, better sell your 360. Do I even need to mention the Wii or portables...?

I hate to belabor the point, but Ubisoft has been making shit PC ports for years. I haven't bought one of their PC ports since the horrendous SC: Double Agent port, and I would advise everyone else to follow suit.

This is their way of signalling that they don't want to have to make PC ports anymore, and I think we should honor their wishes.

Why screw the dev when the publisher's BS is easily overcome?

The most fucked thing about the port has got to be the mouse support. The other issues I might arrange myself with (well, apart from Ubi straight up lying about the DRM), but those gotta be the worst mouse controls in any game I've ever played.

Still is on the top of Steam charts. Makes me wonder, it's that bad (since from dust is a FAMOUS FPS brand and people will buy anyway) or the people complaining are that 1% of the cynical assholes that thinks everything is shit?

Anyway, I had to choose and I choose Bastion :-P

@hermes: A few things: a) Blizzard had it in SC2, so it was expected; b) a shitstorm still happened and c) they announced it. Ubisoft *lied* to their customers.

That said, I do agree with you about the double standards in general but I for one can do no more about it than to just not buy Diablo III (as I did with SC2).

I didn't ever really care too much in the first place, but if I was ever going to buy From Dust it would've been on PC. I've heard from other outlets that it's pretty good and could be great on PC, but eh - after this the little enthusiasm I had for the game has faded away.

This post should also mention how UBISOFT LIED.

They previously said it was a one-time activation.

Then proceeded to delete that thread a few days later.

Then ended by coming up with a bullshit DRM that hurts paying consumers and gives the best version of the game to Pirates.

Thats a shame, I thought this would shine on the PC. I wish Ubisoft were not content to keep it exactly as it was on the 360. I thought it could have looked great if it was higher rez with some better AA. Mouse control may have been better for hauling all that dirt around too.

Played for a while, no bugs so far. The DRM is UPlay which is standard for pretty much every Ubisoft PC game ever and is about as restrictive as Steam.

There, fixed that a little.

I've become convinced over the last few months that Ubisoft hates this industry and the people it provides goods and services too.
