Have you noticed how Bayonetta has only ever been shown on the Xbox 360 until recently? Well, the less than magnificient debut of the PlayStation 3 version may have shed light as to why. Sega was showing Bayonetta on the Black Box o' Blu-ray this week in Tokyo and the word on the street is that it sucked.
"While the 360 version on display looked crisp and smooth, the PS3 version was very blurry and the frame rate was all over the place," writes 1UP. "During one portion of the demo, a crazy scene where you are jumping off of falling parts of a giant clock tower, it was often hard to keep track of the action because of the graphical issues on PS3."
Of course, Bayonetta isn't out yet so there's plenty of time to iron out the kinks. However, it's a little worrying that the 360 version is fine while the PS3 version is in such poor condition, and one wonders why they chose to show it. Platinum Games sticks by its claim that both versions will be "the same," with no noticeable difference in framerate or graphical quality.
We shall see.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I just hope the game is good, Platinum need a big hit.
Though I don't think any studio would think releasing such a substandard version of a high profile game was acceptable.
WORK YOUR ASSES OFF, GUYS!
Meh, I don't see how anyone can be insecure about the PS3 right now. At this point, it just reflects poorly on the developers. Clearly you can't half ass a PS3 port or you end up with crap. That said, I'm sure they'll work out a lot of kinks. If not, I'd bet my shit-soaked knickers that God of War III will compensate for the lack of good/stable action games around.
just got a ps3 slim, my first ps3. I've had a 360 since launch.
both are great consoles in their own right.......yeah, God of War III, Heavy rain and Uncharted II are going to be pretty good games.....so it's good to own both.....got a DSi too, so I support Nintendo as well.
I've just got into Destructoid, Joystiq and N4G in the past 6 months and the fanboy stuff is just too funny......I think it all stems from either some losers with nothing better to do, or some kid (or guy living on moms couch) who could only get one system for christmas and mommy won't buy him the other....so he is incessantly pulling for the system he owns.....lol
cant wait for that GOW I & II on bluray....
Funny doesn't begin to describe it. I'll admit that I have my biases, but I try to be neutral. You'll rarely see me stick up for the 360 as it needs no help there, but I do *love* watching sony supporters comment en masse for their beloved console. In fact, I love watching people argue over the same things in general. I try not to get involved, unless I'm telling Jim Sterling what a twat he is. <3
really? This is the game that will crush the ps3? Troll much?
Anyway, the whole "it will look the same on both systems" phrase is no longer to be trusted. So many studios have said it and one of the consoles always gets screwed. Activision said the same thing with Ghostbusters, EA did the same with Skate. Forgive me if I don't believe Platinum on this one.
I will wait and see for myself. I think that's what we all need to do.
Find an elevated bar, take a short piece of rope, tie it around your necks, and hang there until you stop breathing.
That is, of course, barring the fact that you aren't kidding. Alternatively, you could just GTFO of Destructoid.
But really, they should delay the game for PS3, and release it when it's ready. Sure the 360 version will get more sales, but it's better than having to buy a broken game.
Well its still months till its release so there's a lot of time to fix it, but you know with the god of war collection releasing a month before bayonetta and god of war 3 releasing 2 months after letting this slip fell into the bad ideas department. PR is going to have a headache with this, there staring down 2 heavy hitters (and ninja gaiden 2 is coming soon as well) not a lot of room for errors here, too many games coming for them to get hit with the "meh" label and lose all that hype.
THANK THE LORD. I almost started crying for humanity. >_>;;
As for the article, that really sucks for the PS3 owners (like me). I can't wait to see people start blaming the PS3 for this instead of the developer...
Oh wait, it looks like that's already happening.
But because of that header image, I like Bayonetta now.
What was this post about?
Also, ass.
I can’t say I am surprised at this behavior, most unsavory Sony info is usually followed by Sony fans claiming some conspiracy or hidden agenda levied at the Sony Empire. I just read an article that the average age of a PS3 owner is 28 (male) and that they hold advanced (masters level) educational degrees. I seriously doubt this fact based on the type of responses Sony fans have conditioned me to expect when bloggers report on the problematic (to say the least) programming of some PS3 titles.
As a 360 owner, I will not make excuses for the faulty hardware manufacturing of the Xbox. It angers me and has made me consider turning my back many times. Some (many depending on the volatility of the article) fans need to mature and stop putting Sony on a pedestal. Developers aren’t lazy (they actually work murderous hours to bring you your entertainment), bloggers aren’t secret cabal members plotting Sony’s demise, and MS isn’t paying people to say that the PS3 is a bitch to program for….sometimes growing up is the best remedy for angst.
Seriously, though, the game isn't even out yet. I expect Jim to throw out stuff like this just to rile people up, but you fanboys who swallowed it hook, line, and sinker really are just a bunch of total asshats.
Platinum Games seems like its got a lot of talent given its track record with Mad World and its previous developed titles back when it was Clover so work some magic guys and try to fix it. I doubt Bayonetta's budunkadunk won't be enough to satisfy PS3 owners if things stay the way they are.
I don't even know what kind of game Bayonetta is come on now
