Wolverine devs want in on some hot Deadpool action photo

Deadpool is one of the greatest comic book characters ever. Normally this is where I would back this up with some humorous anecdote or story, but the previous sentence is such an undeniably true statement that I don't need to.

Sadly, X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucks, and though Ryan Reynolds is pretty well cast as the smart mouthed assassin he's not in it enough to be useful. On the other hand the game based on X-Men Origins: Wolverine does not suck, and part of the reason is that Raven Studios loves the character of Wolverine. Evidently, they also love Deadpool. The developer has expressed interest in giving the character his own game

Dan Vondrak, Wolverine's project lead, says that if they do pick the character up it would be the Deadpool from the comics, not the Deadpool from the movie. Of course the Deadpool from the movie wasn't on screen long enough to be considered a character anyway and making a game based around him would be like making a game based around a guy wearing a red shirt in Star Trek.

Hells yes. The movie sucked, but the game is kickin' rad (and this comes from a bonafide comic nerd). Raven knows Marvel, Raven knows action. Let Raven do Deadpool justice, cause the flick did none.

Oh, and bring Ryan Reynolds in for the hell of it. For the five minutes he was onscreen pre-baraka, he was ideal.

I agree, Deadpool rules. If they did a descent game with him that captured the essence of deadpool with dialog that is actually funny, I would definitely check it out.

Yep we can all agree the movie Deadpool (The one at the end) sucked.

Now a game based off the Deadpool form the comments would be sweet.
Especially if it's rated M, has the funny dialog, and him also questioning the gamer as well as the game (like he does when he's in the comics) would rock.
I do agree with SuitcoatAvenger, they should just go ahead and make him the voice since he was cool in Origins.

Also @ Mozgus: :(
The movie isn't as cool as the game

Mozgus is a heretic.

The movie was damn awful, and if they decide to make a game after Deadpool, I hope to high hell they don't go with the movie one. Weapon XI my ass.

The movie was decent. All of the Wolvie/Sabre scenes were badass, even if the ending sucked horrible horrible ass and shat on the character of Deadpool.

If they make another mediocre action title, but have Deadpool randomly breaking the third wall during it and hamming it up; it will just be another "meh" game. Give Deadpool to Capcom baby! Deadpool May Care. You know it would be a badass game. This is especially realistic if Deadpool is put into MVSCapcom 3.

Breaking down the fourth wall one brick at a time!

Although I don't know if adding Deadpool to the game would be good or not. I mean Deadpool is mostly humorous which is why he is popular. Will adding a humorous person to the game be a good idea?

While I agree that the movie wasn't horrible, there's no fucking way you can seriously believe that Deadpool wasn't completely and utterly fucked, when they essentially made him an "engineered" Apocalypse.

Also, the movie was not respectful dude. I won't spoil much here, but Wolverine's wife actually died in cold blood in the source material. None of the movie was true to the source at all. The fact that they were also fucking brothers was completely made up. Those are pretty huge differences! I'm also happily married, and happened to be a huge Sabretooth/Wolverine fan when I was younger.

Sure it may be a god of war clone but its one of the best by far.

Deadpool was so ruined in the movie. Same with Emma Frost. I hate that movie.

Also, I think Deadpool is an amazing character, but I have this problem where I really want to get into X-Men, but the there is just so many damn comics. I don't know where to start.

But I like Fables. That series starts. That series ends. Good for me. But I still wanna understand X-Men so much more :(

@Mozgus:

"Overrated dumbass character"

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you've actually read what Marvel has done with the character in the last six years-or-so. I'd ask you to elaborate on your view and give credit to your argument, but your opinion of the movie sort of renders it void anyway.

I am a bit reserved about a full fledged game starring Deadpool, despite my undying devotion to the character.Despite some people's simple minded opinions,Deadpool is actual a very complicated character, and I feel it would be very tough to translate him completely into a game. Then again,I trust that if anyone could do it,Raven Software could. They have unequivocally proven to me that they understand comics and know how to make a good game or two,as Marvel Ultimate Alliance is still one of my favs.

Deadpool should get his own well done action title!

@Magnalon - Capcom would undoubtedly be the best choice for this (read: any) action game, and I'd love to see it happen in conjunction with MvC3... but how likely is that to happen? =/ I think Raven could pull off a great game if they were to extensively rework the combat and camera mechanics and smooth the engine's framerate hiccups.
Really though, I'd love to see Capcom get this license and do it justice.

@Mozgus - I've not seen the movie and only have played the demo of the game, so my experience with both is either void or limited. That said, I really enjoyed the demo.

As a huge fan of action games in general, I'm completely capable of looking past any flaw in their story. The essence of the genre is in the gameplay; nearly all other elements are tertiary, but can still be appreciated. From what I saw in the demo, the controls were no more loose or sloppy than God of War titles, but its power-ups were definitely more robust and enjoyable.

Personally, technical issues are my following biggest point of contention when assessing a game's quality, and I found the slowdown and screen-tearing to be disappointing, but neither were close to ruining the experience for me.

Visually, I found the gory effects perfectly satisfying for game depicting the killing machine that is Wolverine. It's about time enemies are more than just punching bags when playing as one of the most ruthless and deadly X-men. This level of destruction was long over due; claws are supposed to cut things, and this game finally let it happen with gamers at the controls.

I don't even want to comment on your thoughts of Deadpool as a character... your "personally formed opinion" is likely stubbornly set in stone.

Frankly, I was satisfied with his appearance in X-Men Legends II. Wolverine: Origins the game should have just included Deadpool as an extra character after you beat the game, similar to Vergil in DMC:SE. As it stands, it doesn't give you any reason to ever beat it again, and wouldn't have been that hard to change "claws" to "swords", and add a teleport belt.

I liked Wolverine a lot, I actually have seen it twice. I have my issues with it, like too much cg and not staying true to certain characters, but as a movie it was a lot of fun to watch.

When EVERYONE watched the workprint a month ago people were raving about how cool it was....now that AICN and ROTTEN TOMATOES editors don't like it people are changing their minds

I watched the work print about a week or so ago, and I found it was a decent movie but they really raped a lot of story. I can accept a lot of it. Deadpool with swords coming out of his wrists? Wow. I can overlook the Sabertooth and Wolverine being brothers (to an extent). But wrist swords? NO. I haven't tried the game and I'm not really interested. A Deadpool game I'd be all over. Christ help them if they fucked it up though.

I think if a Deadpool game is going to feel right, it will need to be more like Arkham Asylum than Wolverine Origins; faster and more over the top. It wouldn't feel right unless I could engage half a dozen enemies at the same time, fluidly with melee and guns. The Wolverine game is more about mauling one guy and moving on to the next.

@ Mozgus
You clearly haven't ever cracked open an X-men or Deadpool book if you think that it was 90% authentic, and you must have terrible taste if you think either the writing or special effects were good. Shit, half the time the claws were about as convincing as Eddie Valiant's toon gun.

@ Rabite
Swords that are longer than his arms. I mean, shit, that doesn't make sense in any context.

I think it's unfair to say the movie sucks. Most reports have indicated that it's better than X-Men 3. Many would say that that's no real compliment, but I actually kind of enjoyed X-Men 3, for the most part. I think people need to stop expecting The Dark Knight, or even Iron Man, whenever a new comic book movie comes out. As long as it's a fun, dumb, big-ass superhero action movie, then I'll be happy.

Clearly you have no taste in movies because it was pretty good. Just ignore what they did to Deadpool and their stupid way of Logan losing his memories (which doesn't work because it's the wrong type of bloody bullet).

The demo of the game was pretty fun, and as for a Deadpool game...*SQUEE!*

**MOVIE SPOILERS**
I really liked the movie. Only flaw for me was how they screwed Deadpool at the end. I jizzed when I saw Xavier WALK out to greet the other mutants.
But if you stick around after credits, you see an arm come out of the rubble, grab Deadpool's head, where the head then goes "Sssshhhhh" straight to the camera. Made me forgive the butchered character I saw before. Also you might only see this depending on the theater your in. 3 different post credit endings. 1 being the one that I stated. Another, Wolverines at a bar in Japan (sequel?) and another, not sure how true this one is, it shows the head in the rubble, then you see a person go grab it, camera turns to person, it's Wade Wilson who then says "Who the hell is this guy supposed to be??"
So yeah, I had nothing to say about the game. Just wanted to rant on the awesome movie. Better than X3 you gotta admit.

Also, you guys need to stop bitching saying the movie was ruined cause they screwed up Deadpool. As disappointing as he was (after anyways, I thought he was great at the start), it's not his movie. It's Wolverine's. And I thought for a movie solely based on Wolverine, it was great.
Deadpool should get a movie now, maybe fix up the story now, add some cancer. I don't care if this movie was a cash in, Ryan Reynolds was a great Deadpool. A Gambit movie would be pushing it. And a sequel would be interesting, maybe show his son if possible.

To each troll there own I guess. I heard all about the movie being bad, went to see it anyways, and left feeling that the movie was indeed bad. The CG in the film looked like it came out of Terminator 2, the attempts at humor I felt were ham fisted, the emotional moments didn't move me, and the action scenes did not impress me in the least. I am not trying to convince you that you think the movie is bad, I am listing the reasons why I think it is.

You came in baiting for an argument, then accuse others of being the trolls? That's some twisted logic.

I thought the movie was quite enjoyable, even though it was a bit screwed up. I have a power that allows for me to actually seperate between the movie and book and it also allows for me to enjoy both as there own thing. I knew there would be liberaties with it just like how Wanted was and Twilight (so what, it has a good story), but it doesn't mean that the movie is anyless enjoyable, so my opinion is this, turn off your brain and enjoy the movie for what its and not what you think it should be.
