I love the control scheme on mercenaries (which despite popular belief, was actually pretty good and you can probably get it for $20). They could make it even better if they added gyroscope controls like in Zelda oot.

The demo included Mercenaries did little to excite me at all and these videos aren't doing the trick either. I think I'll ultimately pass on this one.

It's because they all masturbate uncontrollably to Jill and Claire and neither of them were in RE 4. They also hate Leon because he isn't the same character from RE 2, never mind that he literally had no personality in that game. Most of the ones I've encountered actually prefer RE 5 to 4 simply because Jill is in it and Leon isn't. I shit you not.

That's a rather shallow way of looking at it. I love RE4, but I feel Resident evil 3 and 4 are two very different games. And I don't see why we can't have both. the old RE series was about lack of ammo, dark and deserted mansion/city and the feeling of being alone. The new games deviate from the original concept with big explosions and mutants rather then zombies. Even though there still very good games.
I think the old RE series is a genre we don't see that much of anymore. And people right it off as "peh tank controls" I'm not commenting on this game as it looks really good. But I'm just saying there is a reason why people miss the classic Resident Evil games. And to not just write it off as a nostalgia thing. OK maybe it is partly nostalgia.

There were five of those flipping games, and they were all remade several times. Why should I have to stop getting 4 styled ones after 2 entries? Low ammo, back tracking, bad camera's and item management weren't scary, they were limitations of the era and padding.

Oh well. I own RE, REmake and RE4. Completed RE4 multiple times and love it, barely fucking touched the other two. Not scary, just vastly unfun to play.
Didn't like what RE5 did, but it was a fun title of its own accord. Oh and the Wii version of 4 was by far the best, 'till the PS3 HD port adds Move functionality.

These videos are really weird, nothing like the demo I played at E3. i have a feeling this game is going to do a lot of strange things to my brain.
Ok I was excited for this but now I'm not so sure anymore. Scripted "kill all the wolves" sequences don't really scream "Resident Evil" to me or look all that exciting. That may just be because the person playing the demo absolutely sucks.

I hope this game plays like a cohesive globe-trotting adventure and not merely a series of disconnected vignettes. It may end up being a good game regardless, but RE should be better than that.
I hate RE fans...
Like most fanboy situations, you get a group of elitist that hate themselves and life, so they project all of their desire onto the "acceptable" games in the series to construct a Holy Object that can be safely worshipped forever. Anything in the same bloodline that diverts from that formula will be attacked viscously, because it is not the original holy object. This is the cultic ego at work, and it's the same equation for religious belief systems.
Those of us that have brain cells to play with simply enjoy what ALL the RE games have to offer to varying degrees without the unnecessary rancid hyperbolic comparisons and disappointments.
Therefore I can continue to enjoy life, games, myself, and everyone around me, because I am not preoccupied with multiple Holy Objects in life that beg me to hate the majority of other things that are not it.
