Woah! New Disney Kinect game scans you into Pixar films photo

A new Disney Kinect title is still under wraps, but it sounds amazing so far. It's code-named "Rush," and it's set to launch in spring 2012.

In "Rush," using Kinect, kids can scan themselves into five Pixar worlds to team up with their favorite characters from The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 "in a race against time to solve exciting challenges." There's even cooperative play.

A press release says that for the first time in Kinect history, kids can use their body and voice interact with their favorite Disney/Pixar on screen and play cooperatively.

The screenshot above is all we have to go on so far.

Do you understand that kids are going to lose their minds after seeing this?

Annnndddd they missed a really cool opportunity to let kids scan themselves into Monsters Inc. .. Which would have actually peeked my interest in this as well (if I had/have a Kinect by them).

Replace Cars 2 with Monsters Inc and we'll start talking dollar signs.

..... in other news your likeness becomes the property of Disney Pixar in perpetuity throughout the universe. I joke I joke .....

Seriously tho I'd be going over whatever EULA comes with that game with a fine toothed comb.

Not sure if Nintendo ever changed it in theirs but I seem to recall any picture your take with the 3DS is the property of Nintendo. Good times ^^

I predict this will be a let down, at best.

Can you scan yourself in and then play with a controller? No? Then I'm still not interested in the Kinect. Great for the kids though.

Hear that, Square? Microsoft is now using Pixar. How about, ya know, bringing Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Wall-E and such to Kingdom Hearts already?! Come on dammit!

Is this what Microsoft is targeting gamers with? This is disappointing. Gamers want real games, not Kinect shovelware. I doubt Microsoft will ever learn.

There's no way to point it out without looking like a dickish pedant, but that's not how you spell "whoa."

If you had better reading comprehension skills, you would see that this is targeted towards kids, not the "core gamer". Just wanted to point that out.

super stoked for it. after all those previews i know i will be picking up Disneyland Adventures(especially after Rocksmith was delayed to 2012) and it's nice to know that MS is working on more games like it.

my only problem with this is that i hoped for another Disneyland Adventure-type game - basically openworld Pixar bukkake extravaganza from all of their movies.
any chance MS will try to get DreamWorks next?

Regardless, this turns off gamers from the console because it does not have the games that is catered to them. Ask any gamer and they'll describe the kinect in a negative manner.

Thank you. Its disappointing to see tech like the Kinect wasted on kids games unlike the Move which is versatile with any games and accurate to boot.

Yet you still look stupid holding a pink glowing ball. Mouse and Keyboard have always been more accurate and versatile anyway :)

Hahaha..true, but if it works, it works. Besides, we are talking console motion tracking. Although the mouse is motion tracking to a degree, its not as immersive as playing Killzone 3 with the Move and the Sharp Shooter attachment.

About rocksmith is a shame. I picked it up last night and had a lot of fun.
Back to op:
I want to be in wall-e. That would be the best

Im a gamer. This is great because I can play it with my kids. You guys are right though, it sucks that other demographics are being considered (sarcasm). Im all set with Skyrim , SR3, and Uncharted 3. Now my kids get something appropriate for them.

That might be a reason for me to buy a Kinect... but why not wrap full games around them instead of just inserting you into scenes?!
