Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf has some screenshots photo

I'm really looking forward to The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf. I never had a PC capable of running the original game when it first released, so this full console remake is something I shall relish getting my hands on, especially since it's been a long time since I played a solid Western-style RPG.

We have three new screenshots of The White Wolf, which isn't exactly impressive, but I like talking about videogames and this is as good a reason as any. I could also take the opportunity to ask who among you plans to pick this one up. As I understand, the original was pretty well received, even if the dialog ("I know a peach when I see one") was ludicrous.

I'll be reviewing it anyway, just because.

I own it for the PC, and it's pretty cool. I love the main character, he's the shit.

Unfortunately I don't get to game on the PC much so I haven't delved too deep into it. I plan on picking it up for the 360. It is coming to the 360, right?

I'm getting back to The Witcher once I finally finish off Bioshock and/or Persona 4, but I think I might get the console version as well. However, if the content is otherwise identical, my decision will hinge on whether the game has a Polish language setting.

NO POLISH, NO POLISH

Please oh please, let there be a Collector's Edition, and please don't let all the good stuff be in polish.

@Jim

Have you tried Enhanced Edition? It's much, much better than the original build, and game engine purrs like a kitten.

I've played this game to death on PC and I'm still going to get the console version.

The PC game is pretty fun. It like that sometimes you think you're choosing the "good" choice in a mission but it doesn't turn out the way you think it should. Plus I just love the developer CDProjekt, not only did they give customers that bought the original game the enhanced game content for free but they are the guys behind GOG.com.

Technically it's a central RPG, Poland is around the middle between Japan and the US. I love the PC version but my save got deleted 15 hours in and I really don't feel like going back through everything.

Yeah, but it's Western-style, right? Japanese RPG = Linear, turn-based, emo. Western RPG = more sandboxy, realtime, slightly less emphasis on story.

Will certainly be picking this one up.

For some reason, since i first heard mention of the witcher I've made a [rather tenuous] link between it and the [distinctly average] vampire: the masquerade, a game that i adored during my sims/diablo fuelled yesteryear. Subsequently, i REALLY FUCKING WANT this game, through a heady combination of nostalgia and rpg adoration.

I too never played the PC game, as I'm one of those c*nts that made the leap to mac and several years ago refuses to so much as look back. pah, I could be likened to a fucking fanboy. What a disappointing revelation.

I love this game, it makes me warm in my special place. If there's a collector's edition I'll immediately pre-order it.

"Japanese RPG = Linear, turn-based, emo. Western RPG = more sandboxy, realtime, slightly less emphasis on story."

And yet the Western RPG's stories are mostly better.
