Wireless 360 Rock Band Fender spotted at Spike Video Game Awards photo

We'll be posting all of the celeb-packed red carpet photos of the 5th Annual Spike Video Game awards shortly (Mr. Destructoid even made an appearance!), so keep your pants on.

But of note on the red carpet was the live demonstration of the Xbox 360 version of Harmonix's Rock Band. While celebrities and various game developers made their way out to the bulb flashes of dozens of ravenous photographers, the worst Rock Band players Spike could find provided the tunes. But it wasn't until our own Charlie Suh began snapping photos of Chuck's Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez (performing Weezer's "Say It Ain't So") that we noticed something was missing. You guessed it -- these controllers had no wires.

It's no surprise that Harmonix will be releasing wireless Fender guitar peripherals next year, but this is (as far as we know) the first time they've been seen in the wild. Unfortunately, like a Big Daddy to a Little Sister, people with headsets and clipboards wouldn't let us get near the console to inspect the details. Wireless dongle? Proprietary Microsoft wireless technology? We'll touch base with Harmonix to find out, and let you know when we snag some more info.

Dude, you can just do all the instruments solo. I'm going to steal it with one instrument at a time from my brother and bring it home. Each one has a career mode I believe.

What I think is funny is that the drummer has a Tama brand drum stool... like he thinks he's a real drummer or something. You think they bought that just for the game or maybe they stole it from one of the "REAL" drummers that was performing for the show.

No one of you stoled it? Dtoid is losing its edge.

lmao?

the wireless les paul is the best guitar controller ever made, the lame ass fender (which breaks frequently) cannot compare. it feels cheap and plasticky, and hollow. im sure a lot of people agree with me

Yea the Les Paul definitely has the best feel out of all of the guitars. I also don't like the fret buttons of the Fender as much, but it's one of those things you get used to.

I've been waiting for them to release wireless controllers since I heard that the bundles would come with wired controllers. Needless to say, the moment there are wireless guitars available, I will pick the game up.

This has been listed on Amazon for at least a month. I imagine that much of the same crap that they went through with Guitar Hero is going down. They originally wanted wireless controllers for Guitar Hero II, but couldn't get things ironed out in time, and microsoft was taking their damn time about it. I'll definitely pick one up, I love the way this feels in comparison to the Guitar Hero 360 wireless.

Rock band is so damn expensive.

Seriously for the $100 or so it takes to pick that thing up you could buy yourself a cheap real electric guitar for a bit more.

I got more first guitar (Ibanez RG270) off of ebay for around $150!

You'd pick up way more chicks that way...

I thought it already was wireless. I guess the GH3 guitar will do just fine. Great way to sell a competitors' product ea.

Rucksack: People would actually have to learn something, like chords, and reading tabs, and god- who wants to actually learn to play a real instrument, thats for grandpas. (I've been playing Bass Guitar for 8 years.)

I got my first bass (Rickenbacker 4001) off of ebay for about $300

My PS3 rock band guitar has no wires. Is there something the PS3 has that the 360 does not? I guess fan boys for Microsoft will be shitting themselves....

I have 6 real guitars. All of them are Acoustic except for one. It's great playing guitar in real life and all... but I still like to play rockband here and there... I wish my real guitars didn't have chords attached to them.
