As an American, I've grown up in a country known optimistically as a melting pot for the cultures of the entire world, and while my Italian ancestors seem to have agreed with that ideal, I'm not so sure they would appreciate what America has done for my utter lack of enthusiasm for their beloved national game. Watching the above trailer for the latest entry in the Winning Eleven series -- ilMetal Gear Soliddicalcio -- the only thing going through my head was "Where's David Beckham?" Without my well-groomed, metrosexual deity to take style cues from, soccer becomes as entertaining to me as Cricket would be to an Eskimo -- and I don't think I have to tell you all how much the 'Kimoes despise Cricket.
Then again, I fully expect to be clubbed to death in my sleep tonight by angry Man U fans still sore over Los Angeles' theft of their beloved Coifed Archangel. Those soccer fans don't f$ck around, and at the very least American culture has instilled in me a healthy respect for wanton violence.
For the record, Beckham came from Real Madrid (A Spanish team) to the LA Galaxy, however you are right, he was a cultural figure over at Man U years before.
And its nice to see that Argentina is well represented in the trailer :D
I say old boy, hurrah and huzzah on the PES8 scoop! The hooligans and I shall be raising a snifter of Newc'y Brown in your honour this evening down at the old Cock & Fuck. Bravo.
meh, Pro Evo stopped being good when they followed EA's example and released the game every fucking year with minimal updates (i.e. lets change how good the defence is for this one, and make sure the squad lists are correct.... for last season!)
I just hope Konami fix the graphics. Last few versions have been a total turn off. Nothing wrong with producing a version per year as sales and the competition from Fifa obviously demand it. I'm still finding Fifa more
accessable though.
Beckham is good but not as much as everyone makes out, but I guess he's a good ambassador for the game.
i think renaldino looks shitty too. pro evolution soccer is a good game though but i wish the announcers would scream goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll!!! they just lack enthusiam which takes away from the game.
It's just better to crank up your music and play with your TV on mute...announcers are boring as hell in this game. Hell, even on FIFA, any soccer game. Super Soccer music ftw!!
yea cant wair for pro evo and guys BARCA is teh best team eva is gonna win champs league this year and i hope ppl from us can play ppl from europe online
