Wind up for MLB 2K12's Perfect Game Challenge photo

For the last two years, 2K Sports has promoted their MLB 2K line with a million-dollar race to a perfect game. As expected, the contest returns this year alongside MLB 2K12, but things are a bit different. Rather than award the grand prize to the first person to prove their worth, this year 2K will be hosting an 8-player tournament for the cash.

After picking up this year's iteration, entrants will have to jump in to the Perfect Game challenge mode, pitch a perfect game, then enter their unique code on 2K's Perfect Game site for a spot on the leaderboard. When it's all said and done, the top eight from the leaderboard will battle it out for $1 million. Start practicing!

This method will SEVERELY cut down on the amount of sales this game could've made compared to using the original contest rules.

When the contest was originally announced, a lot people heard about it and rushed out to buy the game in hopes they could win the contest since in essence it was a fairly simple thing to do. But this new method is convoluted enough that it will put off a lot people who would've bought it if it still had the original contest.

They should've risen the prize money if they're going to make the contest require more effort to win.

Or perhaps have BOTH contests. First person to get the perfect game gets a million, then the next 8 best perfect games get to compete for another million.

How does this leaderboard work anyway? I guess how many runs you score in your perfect game is what they're looking at now?

@Cla You're right, 1000000 dollars for winning a video game competition is cheap. I could do better
