Mmmm. Delicious Final Fantasy XIII. I'm ready to play it again, in English this time. Very soon.
To celebrate the upcoming release, there's going to be an event called the Final Fantasy XIII Experience, to be held on March 8 in San Francisco. Fans will get a chance to preview the game first hand, browse a gallery of artwork, view trailers and meet the development team. FFXIII raffle prizes will also be given away at the event.
A select group of guests will also be invited to the game's launch party, which will go down later that evening. Final Fantasy XIII director director Motomu Toriyama will even be in attendance.
Square Enix is putting the opportunity for 200 people to attend the Experience, and 50 Bronze members can win invitations for two to the actual launch party. Full details are here.
In the video above, you'll see singer Leona Lewis trying out the game for herself. As you probably already know, her song “My Hands,” is a the theme song for the North American and European versions. I really loved the Saiyuri Sugawara pieces in the Japanese version, but "My Hands" seems to fit the theme.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Don't know why she's playing the 360 on a PS3 lead dev Game, on a Largely Sony console.
This is unacceptable, how dare she not play it on PS3?
I can't believe this sick display of sickness. BAN IT.
I suppose fanboys will always be fanboys.
Still, I think it's great that Square is recognizing the 360 and releasing Final Fantasy XIII on Microsoft's console. That's good for all 360 gamers and fans of FF.
Leona was Cringeworthy.
It just seemed weird to me that they gave her that version. I have nothing against the 360 version of Final Fantasy 13 =/ If she's playing the 360 version to get in some advertising to say "Look, this one is on 360 too!" then that's some smart advertising.
I have better things to do with my time than go SexualChocolate.
1. I don't like her accent. Something about it is...weird.
2. She looks oddly like Lightning.
I'm willing to bet 1 billion theoretical dollars that the ratio for sales will be (3:1) in favor of the 360.
back on topic I hope I win an invitation to this event...and also if I do win, I'm pondering if I should show up in my Lightning cosplay. :P
No installation on PS3, just sayin.
Why would that lead you to buying it on a separate console than it was developed for? Everyone has their favorites. Especially when they spent multiple 100s on the console.
Plus, it's Final Fantasy, which is widely known to people as a Sony exclusive. It retains that nostalgia on the PS3.
Uh, you must be new to FFXIII comments. People troll the Xbox 360 version so hard, saying things like "you must be fucking stupid to buy the X360 version" etc etc, even though GameSpot/1up said both versions are identical and IGN said the gameplay looks better on the Xbox 360 version.
What you just said about favorites and spending 100s on their console, that's completely understandable, and probably the first time I've seen logic regarding. But the internet hate, deriving mostly from fanboys, is disgusting. However, Aurain clarified his statement; he was calling her cringeworthy and not the Xbox 360 (you wouldn't know first-hand after reading comments all over the internetz).
And, FYI, FF isn't widely known as a Sony exclusive, it's just known for being on a Sony console. I mean, it started on Nintendo. The vast majority of Xbox 360 owners owned PS2s, so I really don't understand why people come to the conclusions they do (not you in particular).
I think Dtoid comments are the bitchiest ever, but I can't stop myself from reading them. I can stand reading youtube, and game trailers comments, but the comments here are unbearable. The only good commenters have stopped commenting.
Go read the Heavy Rain review comments. Grab some popcorn first, though.
Obviously if you own a 360 only, you probably should just get it on the 360. I don't think the differences are going to be big enough to warrant buying a PS3 unless you need to have the perfect copy.
I don't like her accent either, and I'm from the same country as her.
Give her a break, honestly, how many FF games have we had previously? FF fanboys can stop getting the panties in a bunch. It was Square that chose her, so have a go at them if you must. Besides, while she's not 'japanese' (OH NO, THE PURENESS HAS BEEN LOST, LET'S WEEP), she has a good voice on her and looks good too. I'm sure if you didn't know who was singing, you wouldn't care less anyway.
Think about all her fans that might buy a copy of FFXIII. That's some smart thinking, Square.
Anyway, be happy people, it could have just as easily been Susan Boyle instead. Lol. Such a thought sends shivers down my spine.
No ps3 love Square?
For me its not the fact that they chose her and I have nothing against her or the song, but FF has always had its theme made specifically for the game, as in the Japanese version, which is part of what made it special. As an avid FF fan, that is the only problem I have.
I plan on buying the 360 version as I am hoping the acheivements will add longevity to the game once I haved finished the main story, and weirdly enough Im a big fan of multiple discs, it makes you feel like you get more for your money.
