Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Win a copy of Legend: Hand of God and a mouse to play it with photo

Yep, that’s right folks; we have even more gaming stuff to give away. Who knew that summer was the season of contests here at Destructoid?

This latest contest is brought to us by the folks over at THQ and New Media Strategies who are celebrating the PC role-playing game Legend: Hand of God's imminent  stateside release. The prizes up for grabs are as follows.

  • One lucky winner will nab a copy of Legend: Hand of God and a Logitech G9 laser mouse.
  • Four other not-quite-as-lucky winners will receive a copy of Legend: Hand of God.

“But Justin, how do I become one of these lucky or not-quite-as-lucky winners?” you may be asking.  Well, since there have been several photography and blogging based contests recently I’m going to make this one easy for all the lazy busy community members out there.

Just leave a comment stating what you would do with an incredibly powerful artifact (like the Hand of God sought after by main character Targon to rid the world of invading demons) that would allow you to alter reality in any one way, but would only function once. Would you make yourself incredibly wealthy, cause orange jell-o to fall from the sky instead of rain, or become Chad Concelmo’s new best friend (which would be a total waste, as everyone is Chad’s best friend)? I don’t need a short story; a single sentence will do fine.

This contest will run until 12 pm on August 1 (this Friday) at which time I will randomly select the five winners, possibly with my large bag of multi-sided dice. And yes, this contest is open to all site members despite country of residence. Hit the jump for Legend’s required system specs if you want to be sure that your aging computer can run it.

Legend: Hand of God system requirements:
Windows XP/Vista
Pentium 4 2.0 GHz processor
1GB RAM
5 GB Hard Drive space
nVidia Geforce 6600/ATI Radeon X1650 with 256 MB Video RAM
DirectX compatible sound card
DVD-ROM drive

I'd give the Hand of God to Torgo from the movie "Manos: The Hands of Fate", since his master burnt his hand off.

I would use the Hand of God to travel back in time and space to Mexico City, 22nd June 1986. I would be able to warn Peter Shilton, the goalkeeper of the England football team, that Diego Maradona will try to 'fist' the ball into the net when Peter tries to close him down.

I would use the Hand of God to also make sure he takes the warning seriously, and thereby give England a fighting chance of winning the World Cup quarter-final match. History will be changed; Maradona won't be able to use this dubious scoring tactic, and thus will not be able to claim any kind of copyright to the term 'Hand of God', because I have stopped him with the similarly-named item.

I would also save Peter Shilton from the embarassment of allowing the referee to believe he punched the ball over his own head, and into the goal.

Check the piece of soccer history on YouTube if you don't know what I mean. Oh, and I'm winning this game for a friend. :O)

Then I'd summon myself a pet monkey!

I would use it to keep the US from shipping weapons to the allies aboard the Lusitania, thereby preventing it's sinking by a german U-boat and keeping the US from entering into WW1. This of course would keep it from becoming a "world war" and never give Hitler a reason to get all pissy about the sanctions imposed upon Germany by England and France. This would also keep england and france focused on trying to fight the war in Europe instead of splitting their resources to the Middle East. With England and France's imperialistic designs on the Middle East squashed the Ottoman Empire would have never lost the power that they had and peace would prevail to this day. This would have kept US and European oil speculators out of the region and alternative fuel sources would have been found much earlier or the urban sprawl that happened at the end of WWII would not have happened preventing people from needing so much oil. Without the Urban Sprawl in the US much of the land would be left as national parks and national treasures and the people of the US would no longer drive everywhere but most likely bike which would lead to a healthier overall America.

I would use the hand of god to help destructoid take over the world, then sit on my fat lazy ass and watch the mainstream media bow to and kiss the feet of all the destructoid editors. This would therefore allow them to become more powerful than the US goverment, then they would then pass laws for beer (or other copious amounts of alcohol) and blowjobs for all mankind.

I would realize I should have never gotten the powers and go back in time to stop myself from acquiring these powers, which would mean I never had the powers in the first place and wouldn't be able to stop myself from acquiring the powers because I stopped myself from getting the powers I used to stop myself from getting the powers so I would get the powers anyway. It'll be an endless loop of me trying to stop me but in turn I'm stopping me from stopping me from getting the powers.

I'd use the Hand of God to fix the USA's college system. It's ridiculous the amount of money young people (WHO DON'T HAVE MONEY) have to pay just so they can get a good job.

I know that you don't HAVE to go to college in order to get a good job, but it makes it a lot easier. And it is required for some professions.

Also, I would crossbreed Paris Hilton with a manitee just to see if she will end up looking any different.

I would remove all regional coding and regional price fixing, and all that shit to create a truly global market place so I don't have to be so fucking grateful when one of these contests is open to poor PAL/Australian plebs like myself (this deal would probably include free excellent and instantaneous translations for everything in to every known language, so we don't have to wait for Nintendo to translate trophy descriptions for six fucking months.)

As a side effect, I would be worshipped as a god, but that's cool too.

I'd use it to cheat in a football (soccer) tournament, thereby crushing the hopes of an entire nation. This would ultimately lead to the sub-par performance of the recipient team in similar tournaments for years to come.

Here's my list. Either:

1. Gain the unique and unconquerable ability to spot the seams in looping gifs,
2. Find a cure for cancer so people stop banging on about it
3. Create an organisation for making flawed games better and revitalising old titles with new and more diverse content,
4. Give the GTA Franchise a humanoid form so that I can kick it in every sensitive or fragile body part until it learns to stop being so FORKING IROOTARTING,
5. Instigate a genocide for people called bruceleethree.

I had to choose just one of them, it'd probably be number 3. I'm really sick of developers continually making the same stupid blunders time after time, and there are a lot of old titles which could use a bit of refurbishment.

I would become a world famous modern artist. Then take a crap on a canvas and sell it to the highest bidder. Once the work is sold for well over 500 million dollars I will immediately retire to buy a small island off the coast of Cuba and allow the Russians to build a nuclear silo on it. Increased nuclear proliferation pressure from the US will result in the beginnings of World War 3 ....wait....I totally forgot where I was going with this... .... ....
