Famed game creator Will Wright said himself that his greatly anticipated life sim Spore is in its final stages, and that we should be seeing it in the spring of 2008. "We have the game fully playable at this point and it's in final testing," Wright said yesterday in an interview with Radio 5 Live. The game which starts players off as a single cell lets them evolve into a creature, and eventually into a civilization of creatures, needed some testing and tweaks to make sure it's as accessible as possible. "We've had to do a lot of testing to make sure that the game is accessible by a wide group of people," Wright says. "I want the people who have played The Sims to be able to play Spore -- I don't want it to be some thing just hardcore gamers play." [Via CVG]

I heard some depressing news about this.
I heard the early stages are so quick and forgettable, and you are soon already going to other planets.
woo hoo Zero
I can't wait to try this game. Too bad my computer is crap :(
damn time to buy a stupid PC
Added to Cheeburga,
I've lost interest, took too long and too many other better games.
Better luck next time Will.
@cheeburga
Only if you lack all creativity. I plan on spending as much time as possible crafting my race of genocidal aliens, not to mention their super cars and mushroom houses.
But I wanted to play it a year-and-a-half ago. Oh well, guess another six months won't kill me.
cant hardly wait.
Im going to give it a try.
This most be the most normal post ever on Dtoid. Straight forward topic and no punchline in the picture. Are you guys getting old?
I'd get it for Pc but that thing is crap outta memory, oh well, thas what next-ge systems are for!
and i agree with manec, something is up!
thank god this game is actually going to come out
Yah Ill believe it when I see it
About fucking time. And good thing im building a $2000 computer soon :)
I'd rent it for the 360.
I want this game bad, but I can't afford a PC to run it. DAMMIT
This game is classic DE-EVOLUTION!
Back to the Pitts of Hell to where it came from!
i dont think the PC version will need a super computer. they want to keep it accessible.
Will Wright's final testing takes as long as an average EA game's entire development timeline.
Heh.
"We've had to do a lot of testing to make sure that the game is accessible by a wide group of people"
Thanks Will!
I call Chozo.
I put this on my Christmas list for Santa. Last year.
It's pretty tough to maintain interest after two years of watching those green things with their tail spears.
lol @ grapefruit.
Wow, one of my friends is going to choke a puppy from excitement.
This is going to be such an amazing game. Everyone can stfu about it because when it comes out it will own all of our souls.
LOL @ Duffy
I wonder if Will has balls of steel.
Dammit, DJDuffy beat me.
"Another 6 months? Goddam, this things turning into DNF" I wold have said.
This game really intrigues me. I don't care how long it takes to come out. I see it as more time for me to finish all the other games being released. I foresee this owning my soul when it's released.
I agree that they could show us some more alien types, though. How varied can it really be if all they make is spear-wielding tripods?
My girlfriend is a Sims fiend. I should send news of this her way.
I'm still going to get this game. I don't care if it's six months away or six years away.
@SPIDER PIG
Thanks for fucking up a zero post. I always get a kick out of that when it happens.
FUCK YEAH DYNAMIC ASPECT DEVELOPMENT IN AN ACCELERATED EVOLUTIONARY SYSTEM!
The Christians are going to have a field day with this game. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.
i've heard this line before.
so ill just call shenanigans now and forget i read this
I hope the church doesn't start shit over this. First of all, evolution is actually potentially compatible with the Bible. Second of all, it's a video game. A fictional, fantasy video game. It's not called "Playing Jesus and Making The Universe."
no wai!
I'm not holding my breath.
Yay?
@Duffy
Lol, hopefully it won't end like that.
yeah this sounds like he might have diluted the good stuff to potentially make it more marketable.....fuck that
Whine whine whine... I'd rather have the game be good than rushed. They can take as much time as they need as long the end result is awesome. If more companies took the extra time to add polish and properly play test their games, gamers would be much better off.
I don't know... this game still has potential, but it's kinda off my radar now. If it wasn't for this post, I probably wouldn't have thought about it until I saw it on retail shelves.
@ Mabec: I was thinking the exact same thing. This is a really odd post for Dtoid. Even for Dale, who's normally more - well, normal - than the other Dtoid writers. ;)
Closer and closer. Yeah.
