WiiWare games announced for March: Mega Man, Cave Story! photo

Nintendo has just announced the release dates for a smattering of new WiiWare titles, including WarioWare DIY, which lets you create your own WarioWare "Micro Games", and the indie game classic Cave Story. Oh, and who could forget a certain blue hero with a gun for an arm?

First out the gate will be Mega Man 10 on March 1. Then we have Max and the Magic Marker on March 8, followed by Cave Story on March 22. Then comes WarioWare DIY on March 28.

There you go. Lots of interesting WiiWare stuff to download. Best get your magic Nintendo Money primed and ready to spend! I hope to see a lot of hands raised when I ask who is purchasing Cave Story.

Yakuza 3, Megaman 10, Final Fantasy XIII, Resonance of Fate, Cave Story, Sakura Wars V, God of War III, Just Cause 2, Infinite Space, Pokemon-..

This is getting ridiculous. March is the greatest month in gaming history.

Cave Story, while amazing, has been free for so long that it'll be interesting to see how many people actually buy it.

It's been in my dock for so long that I can't remember how long ago I started it, but I still chip away at it every now and then.

Very nice, but what's going on with Wii Ware demos? Why did they cancel them?

Personally, Cave Story has treated the entire indie gaming scene so spectacularly well that I think I might buy a dickload of copies and just gift them to people I know have Wiis.

I will buy Cave Story, without a doubt. That game has given me so much, and is one of my favorite games ever, I would be glad to support it in any way possible.
That said, I am a little stressed out, because I am still not finished with my 3HP Polar Star only run :/
But yeah Cave Story! Whoho!

Cowboy:

You're trying to understand Nintendo's strategy. Stop it, that's a losing battle. Just enjoy what games they put out and ignore their bizarre worldview.

@ Cowboy TTop

They claimed that the demo program was a "test" to see if it translated into more sales or not. I guess they could bring it back at some point.

FUCK YEAH! I played Cave Story on my Mac, but after seeing screenshots of the WiiWare addition, it'll be nice to play it with a touch of a facelift! I'm day 1-ing this one and I rarely turn on my Wii (just for my wife)

Well it looks like WiiWare has decided to have its own "BlockParty" this March as well, because that's a awesome line-up right there. Make me with that I had a Wii right now!

I was expecting Cave Story to come out every week from September last year! I'm glad it finally has a concrete release date. It was enjoyable on PC but keyboard controls stopped me from getting too far; be glad to play it with a D-pad come next month!

I almost expected Cave Story to become vaporware, considering it's been announced but had no tentative release date for, what, 2 years now? Strange it would take so damn long for a game that's already been made.

Super excited about Cave Story. I've actually been waiting for the Wii release to play it very much. At the time, I had no controller and when I did get a controller I found out about the WiiWare. I look forward to giving Pixel my money.

Warioware DIY came out of the blue, didn't even know that would make it to NA.
I'd buy Megaman 10 if only I had ever managed to beat 9. Maybe I'll work on that.

And it's about bloody time Nintendo pushed Cave Story through, that's a day 1 at midnight or whenever it updates, for me. Wonderful game.

Holy crap. Cave Story and Mega Man 10! And Max and the Magic Marker looks like it'll be pretty excellent, too.

Couldn't they...spread these out?

Max and the Magic Marker on March 8 (!) This game looks fantastic.

, followed by Cave Story on March 22. (!!!) So Nicalis does release stuff! Maybe this means we'll be seeing Night Game and La Mulana sometime soon, also.

It looks like I'll be throwing a lot of money at Nintendo next month. I can't wait to play Cave Story with a real controller.

Even after playing the PC version years ago, I'm still most likely going to pick Cave Story up.

@Ball
You can, you goofball!

1. Download Joy2Key and Cave Story PC
2. Hook up a Dual Shock, 360 Controller, Wii-Mote, NES controller, SNES controller, or any controller ever made to your PC.
3. Map the keys using Joy2Key.
4. Profit.

I'm actually enjoying Cave Story on the PC much more with a Dual Shock than a Wii-mote: the d-pad is much more precise, and the button placement is convenient.
