Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

If you're like some of us gamers who find the Wii incredibly boring and lacking in the software department, then you may enjoy this new site that takes advantage of the Wii's online capabilities: Wiitube.

Essentially a site that is filled with YouTube and other video sites' Wii content, Wiitube allows its users to contribute whatever helpful info they may have or want to share about Nintendo's little dream machine from heaven. From the IM words of a buddy who helped create it:

basically ppl can submit embed codes and either ask for help, show off, post trailers, etc.  works well on the wii browser

So there you go. Enjoy my little Nintendo fans, because we all know you got nothing else to do with the Wii. Want more? Also check out Wii.tv

You're such a liar. I have plenty to do on my Wii. I can create Miis and vote in polls.

Seriously, though, there isn't much to do on any system this late-winter. For Wii, Warioware and SSX. For 360, play Crackdown, for PS3, play Virtua Fighter. This is the natural order of things. I don't know why people have so much trouble catching on that a drought happens EVERY YEAR FOR EVERY SYSTEM. The post-holiday adjustment period is difficult for some.

Hmm.. or you guys are too busy praising Nintendo to realize the above statement is pretty much true. It depends on your point of view. Glass is either half full or "who the fuck drank half my glass you ass wipes!"

Oh well smash brawl is coming.. that will aleviate things... for a short while.

For better results I recommend a large dose of Wii60 and Crackdown with just a pill of the Halo 3 beta, take 2 and call me in the morning.

you're right, Wii is boring at the moment. everytime I start it up and hear the ambient menu music I get kinda sleepy and apathetic...

but thank God it can play GC games. buying under the radar titles for under 10 bucks is fun (so far finished viewtiful joe, killer7, and soon onto beyond good and evil)

Hell If all I had in my hands was the Wii even virtua fighter 5 must be looking pretty tempting right now, BUT do not lose the path young one! $600 can land you a pretty nice 360 setup with Gears of War and Crackdown. And lets face it even Doa4 can beat VF5 (it actually does) since you can duke it out online. It may seem trivial but doing a leader board with your friends on a 1-1 event brings out the competetive bug on anyone.

The brain: Well right now Im playing the crap out of Oblivion preparing for the shivering isles, besides Crackdown and GOW of course.

Mandle Baum 123: What? dude, have you been living under a rock? for a month or so, theres a HUGE drought on Wii games right now, theres only VC games and shitty license titles both for today and the immediate future, thats what the title is about and unfortunately is no lie.

TheBrain's Avatar - Comment posted on 02/21/2007 12:03

@Azrael

I was referring to titles that came out in the past couple of months. There really aren't any for any of the systems beyond Warioware, Crackdown, and VF5. Of course 360 can make it through the drought easier because of the mass of games from the previous year still being around, so it hurts the least in the event of a drought, but I was trying to make a point that the drought is across all consoles.

Umm, I hear about it from masterflamebaitors, but havent noticed a drought, because I have been playing with my wii. I finally got the last S rankings on Excite Truck yesterday, and it was as fun as my first. I am near the end of elebits. 6th stage in Trauma Center. My madden playing has waned since the super bowl. I Play the mini games in warioware all the time. Playing a good number of Virtual Console games that I have never played before. SSX comes out next week, so theres 50 more bucks. Seriously, what constitues a drought?

The brain: I see your point, but seriously the drought for the Wii is by far WORST than for any other system. I mean even the freaking PSP has more games than Wii.

Titles here or coming real soon for all systems.

Xbox 360:
Crackdown
Halo Beta (is coming soon)
Oblivion: Shivering isles
Homecourt (actually cool, pretty NBA Jam like)
Icon

Ps2:
God of war 2 (We dont need anything else!)

PS3:
Virtua fighter 5
Tekken 6
Oblivion
Icon
NBA Homecourt

PSP:
Ratchet and clank
300 path to glory
Ghost rider
Crush
Monster hunter 2

Wii:
Smash brawl
Er.. wii play?
The godfather (when is that supposed to show up?)

well stated, leaving out the actual wii games.

This week: Sonic (one thats acutally getting good reviews)
Next week: Exclusive SSX
week after was supposed to be mario party
Week after that: Tiger Woods
Week after that: Prince of persia, godfather, TMNT, cooking mama, blazing angels, driver.

I always knew the Wii would fizzel, nintendo has a record of crap content until their nintendo specific titles show up, like zelda and mario and metriod. Then only game that jumps to mind that was new and popular was smash bros.

Wii release dates for announced titles. Seems to be a few more than Azrael would have you believe, but I'm sure he has some excuse about how they're all kiddie, will suck because they're ports/not true next gen, or whatever boring shit he repeats everytime he posts. I've got issues with every system right now, but I don't pretend that there's not some great potential in the very near future for all of them.

Mandlebaum: hmm.. Leaving sonic out which looks surpringsily ok We meant "worthwhile games" but if SSX and Prince of persia 2 (now with 10% more control flailing!) TMNT and cooking mama are enough to fill your canoe with joy, well yeah I guess theres no drought for you.

For the majority of us though none of them have a chance of competing against oblivion, Crackdown, Tekken and or VF5 and to be honest they are kind of you know.. shitty gamecube ports.

But hey, to each its own.

btw, yeah we are kind getting some of those in xbox360 We just dont care enough to mention them.

Eh, it's kinda sparse, but I'm finding the Virtual Console to be a treasure box of joy, having missed out on playing or owning many of these games. So I'm perfectly happy playing retro games and having other consoles/handhelds pick up the slack of new games. It's not like it's any different than with the 360 a year ago or the PS3.

(Apologies for the double post.)

To be fair, Snaileb, a lot of those like Dragon Quest Swords, Crystal Chronicles, and SoulCalibur IV don't have firm release dates, and we have no idea when those games will be done. There's a game drought, but provided you're smart with the VC (or strategically play on other consoles), it shouldn't be an issue.

Snaileb: Whoa, nice job in adding all the Virtual console titles and Animal Crossing twice so it looks nice and puffy. great job ;) Wii drought succesfully erradicated!

Anyways... hmm.. the point there is nothing worthwhile on the Wii RIGHT NOW , maybe in the future (and that depends on your taste) but THERES A LOT more coming to other consoles. Even PS3 (believe it or not!)

Speaking of which you cant complain about Wii bashing, the PS3 has gotten 10 times the "bad puppy" treatment since launch. Wii has been sucked and licked and stroked all over, tongue in cheek, using forward and circular motions to a pseudo orgasmic point. I believe enough stroking has been done and we dont want things to get messy.

Oh and also cocks.

Dont be a dick, those VC games, I promise , half the gamers want. Just because your a console nazi doesnt make your opinion of retro games for sale a fact. (though they are pricey, but that seems to be the new-gen trend)

It's great for you to valiate a Wii drought, like all other consoles after launch (Wii:AC ,that was a double copy, dick), but the point I was trying to prove is you're a hater, and the reply you gave to my comment justifies it. Not as an opinion, but as a fact.

Since you are soo keen on talking about a wii drought why dont you start telling us about the ps3 drought too? because if you are gonna be critical Why not be critical of everything and not just singling out one console to bash.

As Snaileb said you are nothing but a stpid hater.

Right. Blatant lies are what Sony uses to sell consoles and have no place in an intelligent debate about the strengths and weaknesses of a given console.

At any rate, any console is going to suffer this kind of dry-spell early on. I don't see anybody getting their panties in a bunch over the PS3's awesome library of games.

@ Azrael:

Yup, there's quite a few titles on there I'm interested in picking up. Out of the ones that have the release dates narrowed down to month: SSX, Tiger Woods, Bust a Move, Mario Party, Cooking Mama, Mercury, Super Paper Mario, and Manhunt 2. Nope, you don't deserve any more credit because your "I hate Nintendo because too many people like it" logic is what is known as "batshit insane". You've got blinders on dude, quit denying it. There's a reason several people commented on how frequently you console bash...

I'm going to try to go for an unbiased list that nobody can disagree with (lolz, talk about impossible).

Previous months and next couple of months

PS3

Virtua Fighter 5
Tekken 5
MotorStorm
FEAR (port)
Oblivion (port)

360

Crackdown (YAY)
Tom Clancy's GRAW 2
(this list is shorter, but it already has FEAR, Oblivion, etc.)

Wii

Warioware: Smooth Moves
Super Paper Mario (YAY)
SSX Blur
Sonic and the Secret Rings (ehh)

I should probably include Tiger Woods, as it is hard to argue that the Wiimote won't improve this game very much, but I opted not to. Also, anyone who put Bust a Move in their list is delusional. Fun game, yes, but really a very unimportant game. You might be able to get away with putting on Cooking Mama and Mario Party, but I doubt it.

The 360 list feels thin, but games like FEAR and Oblivion are already on that system. Also, this is just for the next couple of months and games like Bioshock don't have definative release dates yet.

Honestly I'd rather play Mario, Sonic, and SSX than a pair of fighters and an offroad racing game, but your mileage may vary.

Still pretty light all around though.

Mxyzptlk: What? wait no, I dont hate Nintendo because everybody loves it, thats insane, I dont think the Wii is better than next gen consoles, thats it. And thats a lot different than "Hate".

My point was that you cant complaint about people bashing the Wii, because nobody does! is like complaining about snow in florida, other than me Summa and some other key individuals, everybody praises Nintendo in a daily basis.

But perhaps we/you should and perhaps Nintendo (and third parties) would start delivering actual good titles instead of knowing they can port anything and it will be received with the "Wii FTW" "anything on the Wii rules!" mentality. Like summa said, owning a system doesnt mean you can criticize it.
