Wiimotes need more color, plastic pokers photo

Ah, good old retro mods inspired by the Famicom. That joystick remain dear to my heart. Everything about it was revolutionary -- it had three times as many buttons, it was curved, and the buttons and logo were as brightly colored as the bundled Super Mario World. Then it came to America in two shades of purple and I wanted to stab myself.

Instead of cursing that Nintendo would one day make a purple console that would fail miserably for their stupid mistake (ahem!), others take these matters into their own hands. You know, even fifteen years later on a totally different system. Nathyn from ConsolesAndConkers in the UK spotted this retro crusader's tinkerings with a Wii classic controller:

I had an idea this morning and set out to realise my
plan. Check it out. I had to file the buttons a bit round the edges, and they sit a little lower nto the pad, but who cares when it looks this cool.

Well done. Golf claps and all that. Now, let's get back to stabbing ourselves. It seems that the world is big enough for more than one manufacturer making incredibly cheesy plastic Wiimote strap-on accessories. ASiD has released a master sword and shield kit which, oddly enough, also comes with a scimitar attachment. As tipster Samuel noted "...because you don't already look like enough of a tool using the Wii controller as it is."

Images of these Wiimote creations are attached in the gallery below. Now, excuse me while I go back to nursing what remains of my raveged internal organs. On another tangent, our own LT modded a Nokia phone and is in the top 5 in design contest. WH00T!  Check out his design

My classic controller feels cheap enough without dicking about with it's buttons.

Still jealous like.

Serves you right for being american! Everyone else in the world got the cool colourful sneses, while you people got that lavender hunk 'o crap. Bitter about getting fucked over with release dates and atlas titles? Me? Pshaw.

By the way, that en't a rapier, it's a cutlas/scimitar/dao.

Haha, thanks for using my quip, Niero. One step further to being famous. :P

But seriously though, that sword and shield looks like female repellent.

Wasn't Super Mario World for the Super Famicom?

I like the purple SNES pad. Like a lot. It looked so sleek and not toyish, which is all the more impressive a feat for a piece of consumper electronics that was made in 1990.
