WiiCade brings users created games into your living room photo

Not sold on Nintendo’s Virtual Console? Slightly nauseated by the idea of shelling out $8 to play a 15-year-old Super Nintendo game that’s received zero graphical, gameplay, or online upgrades whatsoever? Don’t worry; the folks over at WiiCade have got you covered.

For the low cost of "free," WiiCade will offer a collection of Wii-friendly Flash games. Whenever Nintendo decides to unleash the Wii Opera browser upon the world, users will be able to browse the WiiCade site to find a collection of soon-to-be classics such as Crazy Koala and the puzzling canine antics of Jack Russell.

Development of Flash games has a low barrier of entry, as well as an already established community. Let’s put aside my laughing (out loud, no less) at the frivolity of many Flash games for a second, take a deep breath, and realize that sites like this could indeed spawn quite a few gems; as well as give many wannabe game developers the opportunity to reach a new audience through the Nintendo Wii.

Make your day complete by playing Tactical Assassin and get a little taste of what you might be playing on your Wii while you wait for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I played a few of the games on the day it launched, there were some fun time wasters I enjoyed, and some crap. Can't wait to try some of them with the Wii controller.

This looks like it might be the one reason to actually want the Opera browser on the Wii.

So the browser does support Flash ... that's awesome. This is going to open up a lot of opportunities for additional Wii content. Zapspot FTW!

I still like the virtual console and I'm waiting for a few choice titles and for the brand new games that are in development for it.

This is awesome, I wish nintendo would let indie developers snag a few spots on the actual VC so they could make some cash for these cool little games. I'd pay a couple bucks a pop for stuff like this. Thanks for linking this, it's cool.

@hush. Don't give them any ideas, they might try to charge for these. Personally I think they should stay free like the devs intended them to be. I'm excited for testing a few out on the Wii, definately. Lol that rhymed. I'm such a poet.

I'd rather know if the Opera browser will support Java, because the Java development kits are free and (as of this year) open source, unlike Flash MX, which you have to pay hundreds of dollars for to obtain legally. Also, you can write emulators in Java (see NESCafe for evidence) but you can't in Flash, so there are definite advantages in certain situations when using Java.
