Wii Zapper to ship with game, Link's Crossbow Training (Update)

Wii Zapper to ship with game, Link's Crossbow Training (Update) photo
     The Legend of Zelda

Since the official unveiling, Nintendo has been coy about the mystery title that would ship with the forthcoming Wii Zapper. Destructoid's mole on the inside of this week's GameStop Manager's Conference (which is currently taking place in Las Vegas) has revealed that the title in question will be Link's Crossbow Training.

While no more information on the game is available at this time, one can only assume that it will star Link of Legend of Zelda fame and quite possibly, he will have a crossbow. Also, there will be training involved.

The MSRP on this bad boy still stands at $19.99. More information as it comes in.

[Update: Unfortunately, this update is not "Just kidding!" Our source tells us that the game has a similar look to Twilight Princess, and will ship in October (or at least before Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles). No word on whether or not the title was -- or will be -- playable at the GameStop Manager's Conference this week.]

Everyone knows that games with "Crossbow" in the title rarely have crossbows.

First law of physics = anything that's fun costs at least 8 dollars.
19.99>8
There's a chance the game will be fun, but I'm not counting on it.

Wait a minute... Kirby's Adventure costs 5 dollars on VC, and it's fun. 5<8. PHYSICS HAS LIED TO ME!

Kirby's adventure is the best game I downloaded on the VC.

Though I still don't have Super Metroid yet.

I guess it was easier to have the zapper emulate a crossbow rather than a short/longbow, still, it doesn't seem right for Link to be using one (won't someone please think of the canon?).

You know, this sort of rampant speculation is not why I come to Destructoid. Besides, you're totally wrong. Link's Crossbow Training is going to be a sequel to Battleclash, my cousin's dad's brother's son told me so.

@dvddesign
I've always wondered why there has never been another Duck Hunt game, since the SNES had the Super Scope (although that was the last "gun" peripheral that Nintendo has made, until the Wii Zapper). I'm pretty sure a Duck Hunt sequel could sell well, what with the original Zapper almost always being connected to Duck Hunt, so this peripheral could ride that association, I guess. Plus, it'd be awesome to see a 3D version of that damned dog, unless Nintendo has to casualize every one of their games.

I wish I was president of Nintendo so I could say "Stop production on Zelda Crossbow Training and get to work on Metroid Dread" and then all of the Metroid fans would be like "I love you Collin" And not only would I get to play a new 2-D Metroid...I might also get laid.

This is the first completely bad move Nintendo has made with the Wii so far. Say what you will about the Wii being weak and having crappy online. It hasn't hurt the system's sales any.

This worthless peice of plastic wont sell with out the Duck Hunts.

I wnats teh duck hunts.

You would think the game would be more gun-related, since the zapper would be better at simulating that.

They should ship the Zapper with Duck Hunt: St. Valentine's Day Edition and you could murder countless ducks (and that damn dog) in the back of an alley in Chicago all Tommy Gun style. THAT would make this thing worth it. Stupid ass crossbow training will not. They should be trained to make rational decisions when it comes to shit like this. For reals.

I dont see what all the Nintendo hate is, For 20 dollars you was not going to get the classic light gun game to define a generation. It's just a small game to get people to buy the wii zapper peripharal. Umbrella Chronicles and many many more will showcase the zapper
