Whereas Sony announcing prices at E3 usually just backfires on them, since people spend more time complaining about the price than enjoying the games.
The Wii U is a HUGE upgrade over the current Wii. Honestly, even if this new system did absolutely NOTHING over the Wii other than improve the graphics, I'd be a good idea for Nintendo to release it. HD is all the rage these days, I hear.
Focusing on getting their potential customers eager about purchasing their products regardless of the cost is always a sound plan.
Of course, that strategy also tends not to lead to many memorable E3 related gaffes, so even if Nintendo strikes gold once again, they won't provide much comedy gold for any gaming news websites anytime soon.

Everything needs hype, and there isn't much hype around the Wii U, if anything there is worry, most people I know that don't spend there days on message boards, have no clue about the Wii U, yet in a matter of months they expect people to get excited about it, I think nintendo is handling this all wrong, there gonna have to do a massive marketing campaign if they expect the general population to be interested in the Wii U. I'm not sure about some of you, but I plan my purchases, unless it's a steam sale, my purchases are not spontaneous, and I think 4-5 months isn't enough for most people to plan there purchase.
I also find a problem with them not revealing the price in E3, what I'm assuming they're doing is waiting to see how the public is taken by it, if people are excited, they crank up the price, if people are skeptical, they go lower, while a smart thing to do business wise, it only means that Nintendo knows there system isn't "worth" a high cost, and are simply relying on peoples interest to base the price on. And when I mean worth, I mean on the technical side of things, the only part that should decide the price on things like this, so pretty much we can expect not so good hardware, which tbh I don't really care about, but it's just a thought.
I was hoping for.. well.. anything that wasn't stupid like WiiU :\
Its basically the 3DS all over again, which probably also means Nintendo will get it all wrong no matter how good the system is. Meaning, the 3DS is a fine handheld, but it was not worth $250 -They have the potential to screw the Wii-U the same way, if any one bothers to be that excited over it (if last years reactions are an indicator, they won't be)

So if exclusive content on a multi-platform game is selling you on a Wii U on day one.....well now, I just love how you always hear what you want to hear, must be a good life.
