And get this:
Nintendo Network Premium is basically PlayStation+, and you get 2 years with the "Premium" system.
Also, the AC and HDMI thing is included in both SKUs, not just the Premium.
And that controller is pretty expensive, apparently. Who knew?
Derp, flash drives. At least their online model is more like PS+ and not XBL.
Wired.com is speculating they will translate to $250 and $300, respectively.
Guess everyone was right!
Premium service huh? Should be interesting to see how Nintendo handles something like that, given their terrible online service on the 3DS, not very well would be my guess.
32 gigs? That is laughable, my mother's 3 year old acer netbook has more capacity than that.
Should certainly be an interesting couple of hours, looking forward to stealth's rambling to.
Some key points:
2 Gigs of RAM, but 1 is dedicated to the system, game cache, etc.
Disk are 25GB
Still scratching my head over the whole * and 32 GB internal storage thing. No word if you can upgrade.
They live in the past,and they are so ignorant they believe Nintendo is living in the past.
But SDD's also have a lower write limit. Other than that, yeah.
Also, it allows for external hard-drives.
And apparently the premium service is a bonus for people who get the premium system only.
Obviously, that's Japan, we'll see how EU and NA are, and knowing how Reggie works, we'll get screwed over somehow over everything.
Everyone thinking these Yen to Dollar conversions will show the real price in the US is stupid as shit !
I always goes like this:
30.000 Yen => around 300 $
25.000 Yen => around 250 $
It is beyond me that after all these years nobody has understood that.
Examples:
Vita 3G price 29.990 Yen => 300 Dollars
Via Wifi 24.000=> 250 $
3DS 25.000 => 250 $
Idiots !
"Yet its still 32 gigs. That's insanely low."
...for what? Downloadable games? DLC? Game Saves?
You're acting like you will need to install every game like on the PS3 or PC.
Besides, external HDD and SDXC Cards, where digital versions of games will and should probably go. Remember those?
"But SDD's also have a lower write limit."
The effective life of an SSD is typically the same as an HDD.
...longer if you don't constantly delete/overwrite huge chunks of data.
You know for a fact that prices of consoles in yen are NEVER A STRAIGHT CONVERSION TO DOLLARS.
I expect this sort of shameless headline grabbing from Kotaku.
I'm waiting for the actual US price announcement before bothering with that. Conversion rates are never reliable for that sort of thing. I do hope it's $250.
And a little unclear on the basic version. Does it come with the gamepad? (It has to, right?) Power adapters?
It also seems like you need to grab your wii's sensor bar and remote if you want backwards compatibility. Not the worst.
I'm pretty sure it will use at least a SATA II controller.
Anything older/worse would make it more expensive (SATA controllers are cheap).
The better question is how many NAND chips (and memory controllers) they use. Still, we're talking of at LEAST 175MB/s here.
It is in Japan, like the headline says.
The same thing happened with the Vita and everyone saying "It's $350!".
Most USB Thumb Drive manufacturers go cheap on the memory controller chips on the drives.
You'r average 32GB Flash Drive has a single memory controller and will obviously have a much lower read/write speed than a 128GB SSD with four.
Also the Nintendo 6 will retail under $300 in the states.
250 $/euros and 300$/euros for systems.
My point, though, was I don't see any evidence saying this isn't just an SD card slapped inside the console, similar to the 4GB 360 Arcade units.
Still, seeing that 32 gigs of flash memory makes me smile and think of all the whiny dimwits who have been too ignorant to think there won't be more space to utilize.
32 gigs is more than enough for saves, updates and puny Virtual Console stuff while one is being able to put all the downloadable GC games, movies and other big stuff on any USB HDD.
Fuck the naysayers.
The heading says in Japan. IN JAPAN. Dollars have been clearly used as its easier for the majority of their readership to understand than shoving a big yen number in the heading.
