Wii trade price dropped in UK ... after it was raised photo

The Wii may finally be enjoying a price cut in the US and Japan, but everybody knows that Nintendo has a hard-on for screwing Europe over and so no price cuts are coming to the PAL territories. However, by way of compensation, Nintendo has instead announced a sneaky faux-price drop -- it's lowering the trade price after raising it earlier this year.

Several months ago, Nintendo raised the price of the Wii in the UK by £20, blaming the British economy as most publishers have tried to do when justifying their unjust price hikes. As of October 2, the trade price will lower. Nintendo has not confirmed how much the drop will be, but said that retail price will ultimately be decided by stores. In addition, a new bundle that includes Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus has been announced for the country.

Oh Britain ... Nintendo hates you so much.

Nintendo hates us, Jim Sterling hates us, Microsoft hates us.

And we bloody love it.

I used to use the British in my army, but they kept taking tea breaks so I shot them into the Sun. Top Hat wearing Bastards.

Also, the current street price of the Wii in Europe equals to 340$.

How is that Nintendo hating on Britain? Your basically getting WSR, and a extra WM+ for the same price as just the Wii before. Where as we only got $50 off, but WSR and WM+ cost $70 over here, so your deal is better than ours. Yet you still complain about it.

In Canada the MSRP is $250 for a Wii, yet all the Canadian retailers charge $280 for it, just for the fact that the Canadian dollar fluctuates from 90-95 cents to the America dollar. So its not like Britain is the only place in the world that gets charged more. God just look at the poor Australian, they have it worst then us all!

It's like black people and having a bass guitar(sp reference), check your basement and closet, you should find a Top Hat, A monocle, A picture of the Queen, and 2-3 Tea Sets.

Hahaha

I'm going to be pissed off when I can't torrent South Park next month.

And Australia is definitely the worst place to be if you like games, Megabucks are charged there.

Nintendo doesn't hate anybody, they just have to run a business and there are probably reasons they didn't lower it over here. They're still on point with their promotional strategies though. I found this one for an online promotion for a FREE Wii. Check the link and the instructions to see how to get it.

I've only just noticed with this story that the Wii actually raised its price over here! I was annoyed when everywhere raised Wii Points Cards by £5 making virtual console titles less appealing, but had no knowledge of the hardware increases.

Its surprising considering I'd been surrounded by high prices for Nintendo products all year. Never shop for hardware at Game: a full Wii Remote (Motion Plus and Nunchuck) will set you back close to £75, and their special offer is a tenner more expensive than a launch day console. Jesus.

For all the shit people give Kotaku for posting tits for hits, Destructoid really seems to be heading down that same path. My GF has stopped reading, the Discountoid thing was bad enough, now it's just whoring Dtoid out for cheap hits.

Really, I thought you guys were classier than stooping to tits for hits.

btw I'm not saying it doesnt have a place, but when it just becomes

"Germany bans video games...TITS"
"Halo 4 delayed....ASS"
"Dynasty warriors best game of all time...VAGOO" it just comes across as a cheap attempt for hits. Bikini babes from cons? That's fine. Just posting ass to get traffic for a story which has nothing to do with it, that's the kind of crap the daily fail pulls.

I immediately thought of the phrase "drop it like it's hot," so I think the picture was relevant enough, if a bit of a stretch.

You see what I did there?

Oh yes, I'm sure Jim chose this image only because it is related to Wii Sports. Tomorrow it will be "COD4 releases a wide variety of ads", and Jim will post a massive wide vagina, because it's wide just like the ads. Oh but he's only posting it because it's related, not because he's required to put a header image in and can't think of any so just defaults to tits and ass while ragging on Kotaku for doing the exact same thing.

You can write your eloquent complain about the issue in your c-blog and let it evolve into mature discussion about it. That's something you don't have on Kotaku.

Oh I bet he does, but if Dtoid is to have any sort of respectability as a gamers website, is posting headers for no other reason than "zomg geeks love boobs, check out ma news article" the best way to get traffic?

Post as many tits and vag as you want, it makes no real difference to me. It just strikes me as a way to draw traffic that is normally associated with shitty websites who are desperate for traffic. I just thought Dtoid didn't have to stoop to those tactics.

Whatevs.

How is it not a great deal Jim? The price goes back down to what it was, and you get WSR/a extra WM+ for free. So please explain to me how in "your world" that's not a great deal. Like I said before I wish we had that deal over here in North America, instead of just the $50 price drop, so laugh all you want to Jim. You know I'm right, because Nintendo could cure cancer and you would still find a way to put a negative spin on it somehow!

"The least powerful and feature rich of the three consoles, that has retained the same price as launch until now... not a great deal really."

What does that have to do with anything? I am not debating on whether its worth a purchase to people who don't want one. This is about people, who don't have a Wii yet, but they would get one, so this is a good deal to them. If you want a Wii, than this is a great deal, by getting extra free stuff with it. Your just bring up semantics that have nothing to do with this conversation, so what else can I really say to that?

OMG that is so not the point here. Lets make it simple for anyone who is actually debating whether, or not this is a good deal. Its comes down to this, getting free shit, or not getting free shit, which one is the better deal? If you need to debate that then I'm sorry, but you must be retarded. If the person doesn't want to buy the product, then they're not going to give a fuck how much it cost right?

Thinking this is a great deal makes you a moron. Sorry but it's true. This is a £20 drop in TRADE PRICE. That does NOT necessarily mean that the retail price will drop.

Use your brain, honestly it helps.

Yeah because getting $70 in FREE STUFF is a bad thing, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I must be a moron for thinking that getting $70 is worst than $50, yep I'm the one who's the moron here. LOL God why don't people get a clue, before they speak!

@PEICanada7: Look at the wording of the article, closely this time. It does NOT say that the Wii bundle with Sports Resort and MotionPlus will be this 'excellent deal' of just under £200. It merely says it has been announced. That bundle will cost more, and the 'default' bundle (with Wii Sports only) will be the one around £180.

...aha, it says it in the Edge article, not this one. That's what I get for thinking I was right *rolls eyes*

"In the UK and Republic of Ireland we are also introducing a new configuration of Wii hardware from 2nd October 2009 which will replace the current offering and will include the Wii console and Wii Sports with the new Wii Sports Resort game and Wii MotionPlus accessory. This will be available to retailers at the newly reduced trade price. "
