Wii Shop releases: Strong Bad, Target Toss, Space Invaders, Forgotten Worlds
As promised, Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3 (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) is delivered to the Wii Shop channel today. The fourth in the five-part adventure series has Strong Bad playing the role of a dirty cop and action hero Dangeresque ... and something about cash and girls. Sounds like my weekend at the Baltimore NARP. Also hitting WiiWare is the unfortunately titled Target Toss Pro: Bags (Incredible Technologys, 1-16 players, 700 Wii Points). As if the title wasn't bad enough on its own, finding out the game is about bean bag tossing might be the final nail in the coffin for this bar-game-turned-digital-download. It also doesn't help that press release reads: "Bags -- or Cornhole, as it's called in some parts of the country -- originated in the Midwest in the 1960s and has since become a staple at outdoor social events from coast to coast." Oh really? Virtual Console gets some love this week, with Space Invaders: The Original Game (Super NES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), which has a misleading title. You see, it's not the original game -- there's a bonus versus mode -- but it does offer plenty of ways to emulate the two-tone look of the classic cabinet and more. Finally, there's Forgotten Worlds (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), which we hope you haven't forgotten ... because it's awesome. Capcom's ebony and ivory space duo predates the Obama/Biden ticket by some 20 years. Significant? I think the history speaks for itself. WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO WIIWARE GAMES AND TWO VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Contra + Jet packs + Zenny = Forgotten Worlds.
Incase you don't speak nerd, that means "Forgotten Worlds kicks ass." The opening dialogue from the arcade version is still the best opening in the history of arcade gaming.
"Did you find the guy?" "I'll get you this time for sure!" that bag tossing game actually IS pretty popular around here... go to a baseball game a couple hours early and people are playing it all over the place. Here in Philly, Citizen's Bank Park even has a permanent installation of it in the stadium.
but yeah... "bag tossing" and "cornhole". hahahahahahahha... Yeah bags is pretty prevalent here. There are few drunken gatherings that don't end up with some sort of bag-tossing. Of course, calling it "cornhole" is absolutely ridiculous 4:00 PM on 05.21.2013 Comparing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 revealsThe highly anticipated reveal of the next Xbox, Xbox One, has just come to a close, and I find myself sitting here thinking back a few months to Sony's own reveal of the PlayStation 4.
